Golf in El Jadida: courses, access, season and stay

El Jadida has two 18-hole courses, both par 72, 36 holes in all. Royal Golf El Jadida, opened in 1993 at km 7 on the Casablanca road, was designed by Cabell B. Robinson and later renovated by James H. Duncan; it runs through a forest of eucalyptus, araucaria and acacia, and its last three holes follow the Atlantic like a links. The Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort course, designed by Gary Player and opened in 2009 on the Azemmour road, weaves in and out of the low dunes along the coast, and several holes run alongside the beach.

Casablanca Mohammed V Airport (IATA code CMN), at Nouasseur, is about 104 km by road from the Mazagan course and about 112 km from Royal Golf El Jadida.

From the Portuguese City, the historic centre, Royal Golf El Jadida is about 10 km by road and the Mazagan course about 15.5 km. A private transfer booked in advance saves you driving.

Best season

On the Atlantic coast, El Jadida stays mild all year: from an average high of 17 °C in January to 26 °C in August, according to Weather Spark (1980-2016 averages). From May to September less than 10 mm of rain falls each month, the driest period.

The wet season runs from October to early May, peaking in November (57.8 mm), so bring rainwear. On the closing holes at Royal Golf El Jadida, the game becomes demanding when the wind picks up; the club opens at 7 am, seven days a week.
