In Marrakech, every course is an experience:
a unique setting, a different challenge, an atmosphere of its own.

Marrakech has 13 golf courses, the largest concentration in Morocco. Which are the best? Our answer is a top 10 with reasons: Assoufid, the Fairmont Royal Palm and Samanah at the top, the Royal Golf Marrakech for its history, then six other courses, each with the reason for its place. Below you will find the page for each of the thirteen courses, a table of holes, green fees and distances, and our advice on access, the season and accommodation. On a budget? See the cheapest golf in Marrakech, ranked by green fee.

A wide variety of golf courses:
something for every golfer

In Marrakech you can play a 9-hole course as easily as a 27-hole complex. The hilly Atlas Golf measures 2,299 m over 9 holes; Amelkis, the Royal Golf Marrakech, the Golf Club Rotana and The Tony Jacklin have more than 18 holes. The entry level varies too: Assoufid accepts handicaps up to 35, the Fairmont Royal Palm required 28 or better (club website offline on 16 October 2026), and the other clubs publish no rule.

Palmeraie, Atlas or desert: three settings

The most beautiful golf courses in Marrakech are not beautiful for the same reasons. In the Palmeraie, the Golf Club Rotana lays out its fairways around large stretches of water. On the Atlas side, Al Maaden is played at the foot of the mountains, among twelve sculptures. To the south, PalmGolf Ourika has a desert style, with sandy areas and six lakes, while Akenza takes you across wadis and rocky ravines on eight holes. As for trees, the Royal Golf Marrakech has some 15,000.

Additional facilities

Around the course, every club has its clubhouse, and several are attached to a hotel: the Fairmont Royal Palm has its own 18 holes, and the Amanjena is bordered by the fairways of Amelkis. To compare restaurants and terraces, see our guide to the clubhouses of Marrakech’s golf courses; to warm up or take a lesson, our guide to Marrakech’s driving ranges.

Why choose Marrakech for golf?

For golf, Marrakech has three strengths: courses close to one another, which can be grouped by road (Amizmiz, Guemassa, Tahanaout, Ouarzazate); an airport 3 km from the city centre; and a long season, from October to April. In summer, highs reach 37 to 38 °C, so rounds start early in the morning. Between rounds, the medina, the souks and excursions to the Atlas round off a tailor-made golf holiday in Marrakech.

The 10 best golf courses in Marrakech: our top 10 of 13

In short: if you only have time for three courses, play Assoufid, the Fairmont Royal Palm and Samanah. They are the three Marrakech layouts with the strongest outside recognition: the top100golfcourses ranking, awards listed by the club and a PGA Tour Champions event. Add Royal Golf Marrakech for the history: golf has been played there since 1927.

How we ranked them

Three criteria, in this order: outside recognition you can check (published rankings, awards the club displays, professional tournaments hosted); the designer and the age of the course; and finally how well the club keeps its information up to date (current green fees, entry rules). A course with no official website or published rates therefore drops a place, even if it is new. Figures come from the clubs, their operators or the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG), checked on 9 October 2026. Every detail (yardages, caddie, buggy, handicap limits) is in our Marrakech golf courses compared in one table.

1. Assoufid Golf Club

The highest-placed Marrakech course in the top100golfcourses ranking, 5th in Morocco. The club also displays the World Golf Awards title of “Africa’s Best Golf Course” for 2014, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022 and 2023. Designed by Niall Cameron and opened in October 2014, it is an 18-hole par 72 of 6,440 m, about 20 minutes from the medina. Good news for mixed-ability groups: it accepts handicaps up to 35. See the Assoufid course page

It has the strictest entry rules in the city: a valid licence and a handicap of 28 or better. The 2026-2027 rate card was not online on 9 October. See the Fairmont Royal Palm course page

3. Samanah Golf Club

A Nicklaus Design course, Samanah describes itself as the first in Africa to host a PGA Tour Champions event, in January 2020; the club also lists the Ladies European Tour Q-School in 2012. 4. Royal Golf Marrakech

The first golfers played here in 1927, and the club presents itself as the second-oldest course in the kingdom. The Old Course by Gustave Golias and Arnaud Massy (par 72, 5,871 m) runs through some 15,000 trees; its par 3s at the 3rd and 9th holes are nicknamed “Brigitte Bardot”. A 9-hole New Course was added in 2008, and every bunker and tee was renovated in 2020-2021. A caddie is compulsory and paid in cash. See the Royal Golf Marrakech course page

5. Al Maaden Golf

Three 9-hole par-36 loops (Red, Blue and Green) by Cabell B. Robinson, opened in 1995, with the third added in 2009: enough to play several days without changing clubs. Seven lakes and red-earth bunkers, 10 minutes from the centre, at km 12 on the Ouarzazate road. See the Amelkis course page

7. Golf Akenza

8. The Montgomerie

Designed by Colin Montgomerie with European Golf Design, this par 71 of 6,230 m has 81 bunkers. Its strong point is location: about 10 minutes (5 km) from Jemaa el-Fna square, ideal for a round on the day you arrive. See The Montgomerie course page
