Nine-hole golf in Marrakech: short courses, 9-hole rates, twilight
- 22 October 2026
Marrakech has one club that is nine holes only, Atlas Golf (450 MAD for nine), and three venues that add a separate nine-hole loop to their 18: the New Course at Royal Golf Marrakech, the par-3 nine at The Tony Jacklin Marrakech and the par-36 nine that the federation lists at Golf Club Rotana. The other clubs sell nine holes on their main course, from 400 MAD at The Montgomerie and The Tony Jacklin to 750 MAD at Al Maaden, on rate cards checked on 22 October 2026.
Marrakech's genuine nine-hole courses
“Nine holes” can mean two things: a course built as a nine, or half of an 18-hole course sold at a lower rate. Of the 13 Marrakech courses covered on our site, these are the ones with a stand-alone nine-hole layout, using the figures published by the club or by the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG).
| Course | Type | Par | Length | Designer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Atlas Golf | Nine-hole club (played twice for 18) | 33 per the club, 32 per the FRMG | 2,380 m (club), 2,299 m (FRMG) | Alain Prat |
| Royal Golf Marrakech, New Course (Menara) | Nine holes added in 2008 to the 18-hole Old Course | 36 | 3,072 m | Gery Watine and Thierry Sprecher |
| The Tony Jacklin Marrakech | Par-3 nine next to the par-72 18 | 27 | 1,411 m | Stirling & Martin (FRMG) |
| Golf Club Rotana (Palmeraie) | Nine listed by the FRMG next to the 18 | 36 | 3,309 m | Stéphane Talbot |
| Samanah Golf Club | Pitch and putt, “compact 9 holes”, next to the 18 | Not published | Not published | Not published |
These five layouts suit different golfers. The New Course at Royal Golf Marrakech is a proper par 36 of 3,072 metres with water in play: a course for golfers who already play, not a beginners’ loop. The nine at The Tony Jacklin Marrakech is the opposite, all par 3s over 1,411 metres in total, the shortest of the layouts whose length is published. Atlas Golf sits in between: a rolling course of 2,380 metres among olive and palm trees, ten minutes from Jemaa el-Fna square according to the club, which also sells beginner lessons.
Two caveats. At Golf Club Rotana, the federation still lists Stéphane Talbot’s nine, but the current operator only mentions its 18-hole course and publishes no green fee: do not plan around that nine without confirmation. At Samanah, the club advertises a nine-hole pitch and putt but publishes neither its length nor its access terms.
Nine-hole green fees, course by course
Eight clubs publish a nine-hole green fee online. We re-read every rate card on 22 October 2026, column headers and row labels included. These are visitor rates in Moroccan dirhams; we have not converted them, because the clubs only publish dirham prices.
| Course | 9 holes | 18 holes | 9 as % of 18 | Validity shown |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Montgomerie | 400 MAD | 700 MAD | 57% | No date |
| The Tony Jacklin Marrakech | 400 MAD | 600 MAD | 67% | No date |
| Atlas Golf | 450 MAD (summer: 300 MAD) | 650 MAD (summer: 500 MAD) | 69% | No date; summer dates not stated |
| Amelkis Golf Club | 550 MAD | 950 MAD | 58% | No date |
| Royal Golf Marrakech | 700 MAD | 1,200 MAD | 58% | No date |
| Assoufid Golf Club | 700 MAD | 1,300 MAD | 54% | 1 Oct 2026 to 30 Sep 2027 |
| Samanah Golf Club | 700 MAD | 1,100 MAD | 64% | 2026-27 card |
| Al Maaden Golf | 750 MAD (500 MAD low season) | 1,350 MAD (840 MAD) | 56% | High season 5 Sep 2026 to 30 Jun 2027; low season 1 Jul to 4 Sep 2027 |
| Palm Golf Ourika | 550 MAD | 980 MAD | 56% | Card expired 30 Sep 2026; no 2026-27 card online |
| Fairmont Royal Palm | Golf website offline: no rate card available | – | – | |
| Noria, Akenza, Golf Club Rotana | Rate not published | – | – | |
The pattern is clear: nine holes cost between 54% and 69% of an 18-hole round, so each hole is always dearer on a nine-hole ticket. Assoufid gives the best ratio (700 MAD against 1,300); Atlas Golf and The Tony Jacklin give the worst, because their 18-hole fee is already low. If you are choosing between nine at Royal Golf Marrakech (700 MAD) and a full 18 at The Tony Jacklin (600 MAD), the 18 is cheaper.
Two things to read carefully. On Assoufid’s 2026-27 card the 1,300 MAD line is labelled “10 holes”: it is the 18-hole rate, following the nine-hole line exactly as in earlier seasons. At Samanah, the card says “sans practice” (range balls not included) under the green fee and does not say whether the nine is played on the main course or on the pitch and putt: ask when you book.
The best value sits in the bundles. Atlas Golf sells a book of 10 nine-hole green fees for 4,000 MAD, which brings nine holes down to 400 MAD, and 40 personal nine-hole green fees for 12,000 MAD, or 300 MAD each. The Montgomerie and The Tony Jacklin charge FRMG licence holders 250 MAD for nine, and Atlas Golf charges members of Moroccan clubs 300 MAD on showing a membership card: these rates do not apply to an overseas visitor. Our ranking of the cheapest golf in Marrakech compares the 18-hole fees.

Caddies and buggies on a nine-hole round
The green fee is not the final bill. Since the FRMG circular of 29 May 2025, a caddie is compulsory on every course in Morocco, nine-hole rounds included. Several clubs publish nine-hole rates for caddies and buggies:
| Course | Caddie, 9 holes | Buggy, 9 holes |
|---|---|---|
| Royal Golf Marrakech | 150 MAD per caddie for 1 or 2 players, 200 MAD for 3, 250 MAD for 4, cash | 300 MAD (optional) |
| The Montgomerie, The Tony Jacklin Marrakech | 100 MAD | 250 MAD |
| Atlas Golf | 100 MAD | 200 MAD |
| Assoufid Golf Club | 150 MAD | 250 MAD |
| Al Maaden Golf | 120 MAD | 300 MAD |
| Amelkis Golf Club | Not published | 300 MAD |
| Samanah Golf Club | 200 MAD (“cadet”) | 350 MAD, booking required |
A worked example for two players at Royal Golf Marrakech: 2 × 700 MAD in green fees plus 150 MAD for one shared caddie comes to 1,550 MAD, or 1,850 MAD with a buggy. Only Royal Golf Marrakech states that the caddie rate is “per caddie, not per player”; the other cards do not say. Atlas Golf asks golfers to book caddies and buggies 24 hours ahead.
Late afternoon: tee times and twilight golf
A nine-hole round fits neatly into an afternoon, as long as you know the last tee time. Of the clubs whose websites we checked, only Samanah Golf Club publishes its hours month by month, and it also lists a twilight green fee (“crépuscule”), bookable online on the day only. The twilight price itself is not published.
| Month (Samanah) | First tee time | Twilight green fee from | Last 18-hole tee time |
|---|---|---|---|
| October | 7.45am | 1.45pm | 2.45pm |
| November | 8am | 1.15pm | 2.15pm |
| December | 8.15am | 1pm | 2pm |
| January | 8.15am | 1pm | 2pm |
| February | 8am | 1.15pm | 2.15pm |
| March | 7.30am | 1.30pm | 2.30pm |
| April | 7.30am | 2pm | 3pm |
In winter, then, the last 18-hole tee time at Samanah is around 2pm. The club says it is open seven days a week, 365 days a year. No other current rate card we checked on 22 October 2026 shows an afternoon rate: Atlas Golf shows “summer rates” (300 MAD for nine) without saying when they apply, and Fairmont Royal Palm’s last card, for 2025-26, priced rounds by time band, in two tables that do not match (after 2pm in one, after 3pm in the other), but it has expired and the golf website no longer responds. None of the clubs we checked advertises floodlit holes for night golf.
Who nine holes suit
Beginners and golfers without a handicap
Short nine-hole courses are a beginner’s first step after the driving range. The par-3 nine at The Tony Jacklin, whose operator says its 27 holes let players of all levels improve their game, and Atlas Golf, another short course, are the obvious choices; Atlas Golf lists beginner lessons at 400 MAD (1 to 4 people), 300 MAD (4 to 8) and 200 MAD (from 9). Neither publishes its terms for golfers without a handicap, so check first. Some courses are closed to novices: Assoufid sets a maximum handicap of 35, with a certificate shown at reception before paying, and Fairmont Royal Palm restricts its course to licensed players with a handicap of 28 or better. For the first steps, see our guide to beginner golf in Morocco and our comparison of Marrakech driving ranges.
Arrival and departure days
With half the holes, a nine-hole round fits into half a day. If you land in the late morning, an early-afternoon tee time is still realistic; in winter, aim to start before 1pm or 2pm depending on the club, and book the tee time in advance. On the last day, nine holes in the morning leaves time to check out and get to the airport.
A partner who plays a little
Of the rate cards we checked, only Atlas Golf packages nine holes: “Swing, Lunch & Swim” at 800 MAD (nine holes, lunch and access to the spa pool), “Getaway” at 800 MAD (nine holes and a 45-minute treatment) and the “AGM Pass” at 1,050 MAD (nine holes, lunch and a 45-minute treatment). Lunch means a starter or main course under 200 MAD à la carte, a dessert, one soft drink and one tea or coffee. For a couple where only one of you plays seriously, read our guide to a golf holiday in Marrakech with a non-golfing partner.
Golfers who want two courses in a day
Amelkis plays its 27 holes as three loops of nine (Red, Blue and Green) and sells nine holes for 550 MAD. At Royal Golf Marrakech, a morning 18 on the Old Course can be followed by the New Course in the afternoon; the card shows a single nine-hole rate of 700 MAD without separating the two courses.
Fitting nine holes into a Marrakech golf break
Nine holes is mostly a scheduling tool: it fills the half-days that an 18-hole round cannot. In a typical week it belongs on arrival day, at the end of the trip, or midweek when your back asks for a lighter day. Our golf holidays in Marrakech start from a private villa for 3 to 21 people, with a dedicated chef, private transfers between the airport, the villa and the courses, and rounds on Marrakech’s courses chosen with you (the page counts 13 courses in the city), from €1,150 per golfer (about £965). Tell us who plays 18, who prefers nine and who is just starting, and the tee times and transfers follow.
