Clubhouse and terrace of a Marrakech golf course at sunset

If you are taking a non-golfing partner to Marrakech, base the trip around courses where they can spend the morning without a club in hand. Three stand out: the Fairmont Royal Palm (spa, pools, restaurants and a kids’ club on the same estate as the course), Atlas Golf (spa and hammam, pool, two restaurants, an observatory and a fossil museum on site) and Amelkis, next door to the Amanjena hotel and its spa. Everywhere else, the golfer plays in the morning while the partner heads into the city, and you meet for lunch.

Which Marrakech golf clubs have something for a non-golfer?

The table lists only what each club or hotel states on its official website. If a facility is missing, it may still exist; it simply is not published.

Fairmont Royal Palm: everything on one estate

For a couple where only one plays, this is the simplest answer. The Fairmont Royal Palm, at km 12 on the Amizmiz road, puts an 18-hole Cabell B. Robinson course and a hotel of 135 rooms, suites and villas on the same estate, 15 minutes from Marrakech-Menara airport according to the hotel. It lists four dining venues, pools (it claims the largest in the city), a Fairmont Spa designed as a riad and a kids’ club.

The golf country club adds a pool, a gym, a yoga studio, Le Sabra restaurant with its shaded terrace, and Legends’ Bar. The hotel notes that the country club pool is “subject to availability”. The hotel’s 4- and 7-night golf packages, bookable until 19 December 2026, include 15% off all spa treatments.

Two rules for the golfer: the course is restricted to players with a valid licence and a handicap of 28 or better, and the club requires one caddie per group (200 MAD per round, paid in cash). The club also announced a maintenance closure from 15 August to 30 September 2026, so for a late-summer trip, confirm the course is open before booking.

Atlas Golf: the best day out for a partner

Atlas Golf, on the Amizmiz road, is a nine-hole course with a proper leisure complex attached. The spa offers hammam, scrubs, massages, and face and body treatments using Gemology products. The club sells packages designed for people who are not playing:

  • Swimming pool: spa pool access and lunch, 400 MAD;
  • Relaxation pass: lunch and a 45-minute treatment of your choice, 680 MAD;
  • and for the golfer, the Swing, lunch & swim pass (nine holes, lunch, spa pool) at 800 MAD, or the Day pass (18 holes, lunch, and a 90-minute hammam with scrub and massage) at 1,400 MAD.

Lunch is at La Terrasse, on the edge of the course; in the evening, Touggana serves international and Moroccan dishes. Both are open seven days a week. The estate’s cultural centre houses an observatory with what the club calls the largest telescope in Morocco (a 600 mm T600), with public viewings every Friday, plus a museum of Moroccan fossils and minerals. For families, the Junior Club takes children from three months old, 8 am to 6 pm, seven days a week.

Amelkis, Assoufid, Samanah: lunch for two

None of these has its own spa, but all three work well for a midday meet-up.

Amelkis (km 12, Ouarzazate road) has a clubhouse and restaurant open every day. Next door, the Amanjena hotel describes itself as close to the 27-hole course and highlights its spa and tennis courts: an option for a couple who want to stay a few minutes from the first tee.

Assoufid (Guemassa road, km 10) has a clubhouse set on one of the high points of the course, with panoramic views of the Atlas. Its bar-restaurant opens daily from 7.50 am, serves throughout the day and explicitly welcomes non-golfers.

Samanah (km 14, Amizmiz road) has a clubhouse of around 2,000 m² modelled on the Marrakech ramparts, with a bar, TV lounge, bridge room and Le Mulligan restaurant.

What can a partner do in Marrakech while you play?

The Marrakech courses sit on the edge of the city, so factor in the drive both ways before planning a visit. These fit neatly around a morning round.

Jardin Majorelle and its museums

The Jardin Majorelle is open every day from 8 am to 5.30 pm, last entry 5 pm. The Pierre Bergé Museum of Berber Arts on site opens 8.30 am to 5 pm. Tickets are sold online only, through the garden’s official website, which also sells entry to the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech. Book the day before: it is the easiest visit to fit into a morning round.

The medina and Jemaa el-Fna

The cultural space of Jemaa el-Fna square has been on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2008 (it was first proclaimed in 2001). UNESCO describes a unique concentration of Moroccan popular traditions: storytellers, musicians, snake-charmers. Save it for the end of the day, once the round is done. The Montgomerie is about 10 minutes from the square, which makes it the most convenient course for this combination.

The Ourika road

PalmGolf Ourika sits on the Ourika road, south of the city. The golfer plays while the partner takes an excursion along the same road, and you meet at Le Petit Béret.

The Al Maaden sculpture park

Al Maaden displays 12 monumental sculptures, placed mainly on and around the course. Ask the club how a non-golfer can visit.

A sample day

TimeGolferPartner
MorningFirst tee at the Fairmont Royal Palm, 18 holes with a caddieBreakfast, then a Fairmont Spa treatment or a class in the country club’s yoga studio
MiddayLunch together at Le Sabra, on the shaded terrace overlooking the course
AfternoonHotel pool, or into town for the Jardin Majorelle (last entry 5 pm, tickets bought online the day before)
EveningJemaa el-Fna and dinner in the medina

The Atlas Golf version: the golfer takes the Swing, lunch & swim pass, the partner the Relaxation pass; lunch together at La Terrasse, an afternoon by the spa pool, dinner at Touggana and, on a Friday, a public viewing at the observatory.

Over a week, mix it up: two or three “estate” days (Fairmont, Atlas), two “city” days with a course close to the centre such as The Montgomerie, and at least one day off golf to explore together. Our Marrakech golf break itineraries give you a starting point.
