Golf course overlooking the Atlantic Ocean

Morocco’s seaside golf sits in four clusters: Agadir and Taghazout Bay in the south, Essaouira, El Jadida on the Atlantic south of Casablanca, and Tangier with Cabo Negro in the north. Where clubs publish a visitor rate, 18 holes cost between 650 MAD (Royal Country Club de Tanger) and 850 MAD (Golf de l’Océan, Agadir) at the rates we read on 9 October 2026. The coast is cooler than Marrakech in summer, and Essaouira and the north see more windy days, which is the trade-off to plan around.

Agadir and Taghazout Bay: four clubs, sea air

Agadir has four courses on our site. Between them they offer 36 holes at Golf du Soleil, 27 at Golf de l’Océan and at Golf des Dunes, and an 18-hole course plus a 9-hole short course at Tazegzout.

  • Golf du Soleil: 36 holes on two courses, the Championship (par 72, 5,976 m from the back tees) and the Tikida (about 5,500 m from the whites), designed by Fernando Mueller and Gérard Courbin. The club opened in 1999, and the Championship reopened after renovation in October 2019. On 9 October 2026 its rates page still showed the season that ended on 30 September 2026, so there is no current price to quote.
  • Golf de l’Océan: 27 holes in three loops (Garden, Dunes, Desert) by Belt Collins, opened in 2010. Public rates from 1 October 2026 to 30 April 2027: 850 MAD for 18 holes, 500 MAD for 9, or 1,600 MAD for a two-round package and 2,200 MAD for three rounds per player. A free shuttle runs from ten hotel stops in Agadir, on reservation.
  • Golf des Dunes: 27 holes in three par-36 loops (Eucalyptus, Oued and Tamaris) by Cabell B. Robinson, opened in 1991 over 101 hectares of rolling ground with four large lakes, 10 km from the city. Its website only shows rates from 2019, so we do not quote one.
  • Tazegzout: Kyle Phillips’ 18-hole par 72 of 6,730 m at Taghazout Bay, opened in 2014, 15 minutes from downtown Agadir, with a 9-hole short course. Fairmont describes holes set on cliffs 80 m above the Atlantic. No official green fee is published.

For a longer stay built around these clubs, see our Taghazout Bay golf holiday guide.

El Jadida: the links finish and Mazagan

Ninety kilometres down the coast from Casablanca, according to the hotel beside the course, El Jadida has two Atlantic courses just outside the town.

The Royal Golf El Jadida is a par 72 of 6,117 m, designed by Cabell Robinson, renovated by James H. Duncan and opened in 1993. The operator, Madaëf Golfs, describes a course running along the coast through eucalyptus, araucaria and acacia, with a deceptive front nine and a finish that bites: the last three holes border the Atlantic like a links and are a real test in a strong wind. It is open seven days a week. No visitor rate is published.

Mazagan, just north of El Jadida on the Azemmour road, is Gary Player’s par 72, opened in 2009 at almost 7,500 yards and laid out through the low dunes along the sandy shore. Again, no official green fee is published. Our El Jadida golf break guide covers the pairing in detail.

Essaouira: Gary Player in the wind

In Essaouira, Golf de Mogador sits at Km 3 on the Agadir road, 3 km from the medina, among dunes and forest facing the Atlantic, on a 580-hectare estate. Gary Player designed both courses. The North course, a par 72 open to the public since 2009, has large, fast greens and wide fairways; the club says every hole has six tee positions. The South course, set in natural pine woodland, has tighter fairways and more technical approaches. The club’s French page last described it as offering 13 holes from September 2015, so ask before you count on a full second 18.

Published rates: 750 MAD for 18 holes, 475 MAD for 9, and a seven-day unlimited package at 3,500 MAD. The club asks for an official handicap below 36, with proof, before any tee time. Essaouira is 170 km from both Marrakech and Agadir, about 2 hours 30 by road, which makes it a good second base on a two-centre trip.

Tangier and the north coast

Tangier holds the oldest course in the country. The Royal Country Club de Tanger was founded in 1914, modified by the British architects Cotton and Pennink and renovated by Peter Harradine in 2001. It is a hilly par 70 of 6,060 m in the city, through cypress, pine, fir and eucalyptus, on about 65 hectares. Green fee: 650 MAD for 18 holes, 350 MAD for 9. From Tuesday to Sunday it is open 9am to 6pm; on Monday the course closes at 3pm.

Al Houara, at Km 19.8 on the Tangier to Asilah road, is the modern alternative: an 18-hole par 72 by Graham Marsh and Vijay Singh, opened in June 2021 and overlooking the Atlantic, with a separate 9-hole par-3 course. Its 2026 price list gives 800 MAD for 18 holes and 450 MAD for 9.

On the Mediterranean side, near Tetouan, the Royal Golf de Cabo Negro is a par 72 credited to Cabell B. Robinson, at 750 MAD for 18 holes. A forecaddie is compulsory there, paid in cash.

What a coastal round costs

All figures below are visitor rates shown on each club’s own page, read on 9 October 2026. Only Golf de l’Océan and Al Houara state the period they apply to; the others show no dates, so confirm when you book.

Two ways to bring the bill down. Golf de l’Océan’s three-round package works out at about 733 MAD a round against 850 MAD for a single green fee. Members of the Moroccan federation pay less at several of these clubs (400 MAD for 18 holes in Tangier, 475 MAD at Mogador), but that rate needs an FRMG licence, which a visiting UK, Irish or Nordic golfer will not normally hold. For comparison with inland prices, see our green fees in Morocco guide.

Weather and wind on the coast

The coast is milder than Marrakech in both directions: cooler in summer and close to it in winter. Wind is a mixed picture: Essaouira and Tetouan record more days with wind of 10 m/s or more than Marrakech, Agadir about as many, and Casablanca fewer. The table uses World Meteorological Organization normals for 1991 to 2020. There is no station for Tangier or El Jadida, so Tetouan and Casablanca stand in as the nearest.

Marrakech (inland, for comparison)19.1 °C25.7 °C37.4 °C23.1 °C16729

What that means on the course: Agadir is the warmest and driest of the coastal clusters in winter, with average highs between 21 and 24 °C from November to April. Essaouira barely moves through the year and is the windiest of the Atlantic stations in this table; in July it records 21.5 windy days out of 31, so summer there is breezy rather than hot. The north is wetter, with most of its rain from October to April. Pack a windproof layer for Essaouira and the north whatever the month, and take one more club than the yardage says when the breeze is in your face.

Practical tips for a coastal golf trip

  • Book tee times ahead. Tazegzout’s hotel partner asks golfers to reserve in advance, and free cancellation runs to 24 hours before the tee time.
  • Have your handicap certificate ready. Mogador only takes bookings from players with an official handicap below 36, and asks for proof before any tee time.
  • Bring cash for caddies. At Cabo Negro, the forecaddie is paid in cash: 200 MAD for one or two players, 250 MAD for three and 300 MAD for four, per caddie.
  • Use the shuttle in Agadir. Golf de l’Océan’s free shuttle runs from 1 October 2026 to 30 April 2027, on reservation.
  • Passport. UK passports need an expiry date at least 3 months after arrival; Ireland advises 6 months of validity for Irish passports. Make sure it is stamped on entry.

If you would rather combine a coastal week with a few days inland, our golf holidays in Marrakech can add Essaouira or Agadir as a second base.
