Family golf holiday in Morocco: junior fees, academies, hotels
- 09 October 2026
Marrakech is the easiest base for a family golf holiday in Morocco: several clubs publish junior green fees (350 MAD for 18 holes at Amelkis, 500 MAD at Assoufid), the Fairmont Royal Palm academy runs a five-day junior course during school holidays, and there are 9-hole and short courses for children who are not ready for a full round. Go between October and May, avoid July and August in Marrakech, and check each course’s handicap rules before you promise the children a round.
Why Morocco works for a family golf trip
The appeal is winter and spring warmth, and courses close enough together that the golfers can play while the rest of the family stays at the pool. The climate figures below are the official 1991-2020 averages from the World Meteorological Organization.
| Station | January, average high / low | July, average high / low | July days at 35°C or more |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marrakech | 19.1°C / 5.9°C | 37.7°C / 20.6°C | 22.9 |
| Agadir | 21.2°C / 8.4°C | 26.7°C / 19.2°C | 1.4 |
| Essaouira | 18.4°C / 11.1°C | 21.9°C / 17.7°C | 0.1 |
| Rabat | 17.4°C / 7.2°C | 27.2°C / 17.9°C | 1.2 |
For families tied to school holidays, the pattern is clear. October half-term, Christmas, February half-term and Easter all fall in the comfortable window in Marrakech, with cool mornings and evenings that call for a jumper. In the summer holidays Marrakech averages close to 38°C in the afternoon, with more than 22 days a month above 35°C, which is no climate for children on a golf course. If summer is your only option, the coast is far milder: Agadir averages under 27°C in July and Essaouira under 22°C.
Junior green fees: what the clubs publish
Most clubs simply do not publish a junior rate. These are the ones that do, as shown on their own price lists on 9 October 2026.
| Course | City | Junior, 18 holes | Junior, 9 holes | Adult, 18 holes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amelkis | Marrakech | 350 MAD (under 18) | 300 MAD | 950 MAD |
| Assoufid Golf Club | Marrakech | 500 MAD (under 18) | 250 MAD | 1,300 MAD |
| Atlas Golf (9-hole course) | Marrakech | Not listed | 150 MAD | 650 MAD |
| Bahia Golf Beach | Bouznika | 350 MAD (under 18) | 300 MAD | 950 MAD |
| Royal Golf Cabo Negro | Near Tetouan | 350 MAD | 200 MAD | 750 MAD |
| Golf de Mogador | Essaouira | 375 MAD | 375 MAD | 750 MAD |
At Amelkis a junior pays just over a third of the adult rate, which makes it the obvious place for a parent-and-teenager round in Marrakech. Atlas Golf is a 9-hole course, so its 150 MAD junior 9-hole fee is the cheapest way in for a child who can already get the ball airborne.
Before you book, check the access rules. The Fairmont Royal Palm course was open only to players with a valid licence and a handicap of 28 or better (club website offline on 16 October 2026). Assoufid caps handicaps at 35 and asks every player to show a certificate. At Royal Golf Dar Es Salam the Red course requires a handicap under 18 and the Blue under 28. A beginner child without a handicap will be on the practice ground or a short course, not on these championship layouts.

Lessons, junior courses and first swings
For children, lessons usually matter more than green fees. These are the programmes that the clubs price publicly.
| Club | Programme | Price | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fairmont Royal Palm academy | Junior 5-day course | 2,800 MAD | 1 h 30 a day, Monday to Friday, school holidays only, 6 children maximum |
| Fairmont Royal Palm academy | Junior lesson, 1 hour | 700 MAD (900 MAD for two juniors) | With one of the academy’s two coaches |
| Samanah Golf Club | Green Family day | 700 MAD per adult, 450 MAD under 16 | 10:00 to 14:00: practice-ground games, family lunch at the Mulligan restaurant |
| Royal Golf Marrakech | Introductory session | 300 MAD | 90 minutes, a first contact with the game |
| Royal Golf Marrakech | Beginners’ course, 3 days | 1,750 MAD | 1 h 30 each morning, 10 people maximum |
| Atlas Golf | Introduction | 400 MAD (1 to 4 people), 300 MAD (4 to 8), 200 MAD (9 or more) | The page does not say whether the price is per person or per group; junior lessons on request |
The Fairmont junior course splits its sessions by level: 10:00 to 11:30 or 13:30 to 15:00 for beginners and young children, and 16:00 to 18:00 for children who already play. A parent can play the course on the same site while the children are in their session. The Samanah Golf Club family day suits a mixed family where only one parent plays: everyone gets a club in hand, then lunch together, and Samanah also has a 9-hole pitch and putt.

Where to stay with children
The simplest set-up is a hotel on or next to the course, so the golfers walk to the first tee and the rest of the family is not stuck in a transfer. Two Marrakech options publish clear family facilities.
- Fairmont Royal Palm: the hotel advertises a kids’ club, what it calls the city’s largest pool, a two-bedroom Family Suite of 124 square metres, and a half-term programme. The 18-hole Cabell B. Robinson course and the academy are on the same estate on the Amizmiz road.
- Atlas Golf: the Junior Club takes children from three months, 8:00 to 18:00, seven days a week, with day care, an activity centre and a crèche. The club also sells a pool day with lunch at 400 MAD, which works for a non-golfing parent.
Plenty of families prefer a private villa with its own pool, using it as a base and driving to a different course each day. That is how we build our golf holidays in Marrakech: one base, a course a day, transfers arranged around the children’s timetable.
Agadir and the coast
For a summer trip, or a family that wants the beach every afternoon, Agadir is the alternative. Golf de l’Océan runs a training centre built for groups and for teachers with pupils, with a 4-hole school course, and its public 18-hole green fee is 850 MAD from 1 October 2026 to 30 April 2027. Golf des Dunes lists a five-day beginners’ course, two hours a day, six players maximum, for adults and teenagers from 11; its price page carries no date, so ask for a current rate. In Essaouira, Golf de Mogador publishes a 375 MAD junior fee, with reservations open to players holding an official handicap under 36.
Practical points for families
- Passports for everyone. UK travellers need a passport valid for at least 3 months after the date of arrival; Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs advises at least 6 months from the date of entry and warns that the Passport Card is not accepted. Check that every passport is stamped on entry.
- Handicap certificates for any teenager who will play a full course, plus the parents’.
- Dress code. Assoufid requires proper golf attire for all players except children under 10. Atlas Golf bans collarless tank tops, tracksuits and sports shorts.
- Caddies. At Royal Golf Marrakech a forecaddie is compulsory, paid in cash and charged per caddie rather than per player, so a family three-ball pays one caddie: 250 MAD for 18 holes.
- Book the academy before the flights are fixed. The Fairmont junior course runs only in school holidays and takes six children at most.
