Golf lessons in Morocco: golf schools in Marrakech and Agadir
- 08 October 2026
If you want golf lessons in Morocco with published prices, Marrakech is the place to look. Royal Golf Marrakech lists 2- to 5-day courses from 1,750 to 7,250 MAD, Olivier Edmond’s academy at Samanah sells 3- to 5-day programmes from €490 to €1,690, and at Fairmont Royal Palm a one-hour private lesson cost 1,000 MAD (club website offline on 16 October 2026). In Agadir, Golf de l’Océan and Golf des Dunes both run an academy, but neither has a dated lesson price online, so you will need to ask the club.
Every price below was read on the club’s official website on 8 October 2026. None of these sites gives a validity date for its coaching rates, so treat them as the latest published prices and reconfirm when you book.
Taster, golf school or private lesson
Moroccan clubs sell three formats. A taster (the French term is “initiation”) is a single session on the range, from 90 minutes to half a day. A course (“stage”) runs for 2 to 5 days in a small group, usually with 90 minutes to three hours of tuition a day (a full day on Samanah’s Premium course) and, on some formats, coached holes on the course. A private lesson is booked by the hour and is the easiest thing to slot into a golf week you have already planned.

Marrakech: the offers in detail
Royal Golf Marrakech: the most structured golf school
Opened in 1927, Royal Golf Marrakech publishes the fullest course list in the city. The school groups players into four levels: taster, beginner (handicap index 53.5 to 36), improver (19 to 36) and elite (below 18). The short formats that fit a holiday:
- Taster: one 90-minute session, 300 MAD.
- “Premiers swings” beginner course: 90 minutes each morning (9:00 to 10:30) over 3 days, maximum 10 players, 1,750 MAD.
- Semi-intensive course: for improvers, 2 hours each morning, maximum 8 players, with coached holes: 2,500 MAD over 2 days, 3,800 MAD over 3, 4,400 MAD over 4, 5,550 MAD over 5.
- Intensive Plus: 3 hours each morning, maximum 6 players, with a pro out on the course for strategy, the mental game and the short game: from 3,150 MAD (2 days) to 7,250 MAD (5 days with three coached 9-hole rounds). The club says you can sit the “carte verte” (green card) during this course.
The site does not say whether these prices are per person. Worth knowing for the budget: since 28 May 2025 a forecaddie has been compulsory on the course, which applies as soon as a course takes you out onto the 18. See our Royal Golf Marrakech page for the layout.
Samanah: Olivier Edmond's academy
At Samanah, the Nicklaus Design course on the Amizmiz road, coaching is run by Olivier Edmond, a former European Tour player and former national technical director of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation. His academy publishes three courses, open to beginners and experienced players alike:
- 3-day course, €490: 6 hours in the practice areas plus 2 hours 30 of on-course coaching, green fee included.
- 5-day course, €590: 2 hours a day.
- Premium course, €1,690: 4 days from 9:00 to 17:00, adding fitness and mental preparation.
Equipment is not included; hire clubs must be requested 72 hours in advance. The club also sells taster days: 900 MAD solo (welcome at 10:00, two hours on the range, lunch at the clubhouse restaurant), 1,500 MAD for two, and a family day at 700 MAD per adult and 450 MAD for under-16s. The practice ground covers 7 hectares and runs 350 metres deep, with a 9-hole pitch and putt. More on our Samanah Golf Club page.
Fairmont Royal Palm: hourly lessons with two named pros
The Royal Palm academy, at km 12 on the Amizmiz road, names both coaches: head coach Jean-Michel Richard, who played the French tour and the Challenge Tour, and Guillaume Assayag, a PGA France member, former Alps Tour player and Trackman specialist. Published rates:
- One-hour private lesson: 1,000 MAD; for two players: 1,300 MAD.
- One-hour junior lesson: 700 MAD; two juniors: 900 MAD.
- 5-day junior course (90 minutes a day, school holidays only, maximum 6 children): 2,800 MAD.
- Playing lesson with a pro: 2,300 MAD for 9 holes, 4,000 MAD for 18.
- 90-minute Trackman swing analysis: 1,500 MAD.
Mind the gap between the academy and the course: play on the Royal Palm 18 was restricted to golfers with a valid golf licence and a handicap of 28 or better (club website offline on 16 October 2026). A beginner can have lessons on the range but cannot play the course. See our Fairmont Royal Palm page.
Atlas Golf: the cheapest published taster
Also on the Amizmiz road, Atlas Golf lists a taster at 400 MAD for 1 to 4 people, 300 MAD for 4 to 8 and 200 MAD from 9 people (the site does not say whether this is per person). Private and junior lessons are “price upon request”. The green fee is 650 MAD for 18 holes and 450 MAD for 9.
Montgomerie, Assoufid, Al Maaden: good facilities, few prices
The Montgomerie Marrakech is home to the Prestigia golf academy, run by a professional team, with a large practice area for the long game, putting and bunker play; no lesson prices are published. Assoufid charges 150 MAD for range use when you work with a pro. Al Maaden’s academy names two coaches, Erwann Jouannic (PGA France qualified) and Hafid Agouram, but publishes no session price; its practice set-up is among the most complete in the city: a 300-metre driving range, grass tees, a putting green, a chipping green and practice bunkers.
Agadir: academies, prices on request
Golf de l'Océan
The Océan Golf Training Center was built for groups and for coaches travelling with their pupils, as well as for beginners and improvers. It has a 4-hole teaching course and an unlimited-balls option; the range takes 30 golfers. The coaching rates on the club’s site date from 2022, so we do not quote them. For play, the public green fee is 850 MAD for 18 holes from 1 October 2026 to 30 April 2027. See our Golf de l’Océan page.
Golf des Dunes
Golf des Dunes introduces its pro, Mohamed Hilaly, a PGA Morocco professional, and describes lessons for all levels, a beginner course (5 days of 2 hours, maximum 6 players, from age 11) and an improver course (3 days of 3 hours). The same page shows prices with no date, on a site whose green fees still refer to 2019: ask for the current rate before you book. The range is 250 metres long, with putting and pitching greens.
Tazegzout and Golf du Soleil
At Taghazout Bay, the Tazegzout academy opened in June 2015 and offers clinics and personal coaching; the neighbouring Fairmont hotel mentions private lessons with golf professionals. No prices are published. At Golf du Soleil, the “academy” link on the club’s site led to an error page on 8 October 2026, so we cannot confirm an active offer.
Which format for which golfer
Complete beginners
Book a taster first (300 MAD at Royal Golf Marrakech, or 900 MAD for a day with lunch at Samanah). If you enjoy it, the 3-day beginner options are the “Premiers swings” course at Royal Golf Marrakech (1,750 MAD, maximum 10 players) or Samanah’s 3-day course (€490, including time on the course). Do not build a beginner’s trip around Royal Palm or Assoufid: both courses require a handicap (28 or better at Royal Palm; 35 maximum at Assoufid, with a certificate shown at reception).
Improvers and club golfers
Over a week, take lessons in the morning and play in the afternoon: the semi-intensive course at Royal Golf Marrakech (2 hours each morning) or the 5-day course at Samanah (2 hours a day) leaves your afternoons free for other courses. For a one-off swing check, a 90-minute Trackman session at Royal Palm cost 1,500 MAD.
Families
Royal Palm runs a 5-day junior course in the school holidays (2,800 MAD), and Samanah has a family day (450 MAD for under-16s). Check which school-holiday dates the club means before you book.
Building the trip around the coaching
We build the trip to measure: accommodation, transfers, booking the coaching and tee times on courses that suit your level. Tell us what you have in mind on our Marrakech golf holidays page and ask for a quote. If you are still choosing between the two cities, our guide Marrakech or Agadir compares them.
