Footbridge to an island green at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam

A golf trip to Rabat is built around the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam: 45 holes on three Robert Trent Jones courses (Red, Blue and Green), about 15 minutes from the city centre. The Red requires a handicap below 18 and one caddie per player, the Blue a handicap below 28; the rate sheet online, still headed “Rates 2025”, shows 1,200 MAD for the Red and 850 MAD for the Blue. For a third course, Bahia Golf Beach at Bouznika (950 MAD) and the 9-hole Bouznika Bay round out the week.

The club profile covers the estate itself. This page is for deciding: which course to book for your handicap index, what a round really costs once the compulsory caddie is added, and how to put together four days of golf around Rabat with a budget based on the official rate sheets we read on 9 October 2026.

Red, Blue or Green: which course for your handicap

Booking “Dar Es Salam” is not enough: the three courses differ in length, entry conditions and price. This is what the club publishes.

CourseLayoutLengthHandicap requiredCaddiePublic green fee (“Rates 2025”)
Red18 holes, par 736,702 mBelow 18One per player, compulsory1,200 MAD (18 holes), 650 MAD (9 holes)
Blue18 holes, par 726,205 mBelow 28One per player or per team of two or more850 MAD (18 holes), 450 MAD (9 holes)
Green9 holes, par 322,170 mNo limit publishedOne per game300 MAD (9 holes)

The club describes the Red as designed for professionals, and the 2026 Hassan II Trophy pro-am was played on it. The Blue is described as technical, with fast, rolling greens. The Green, designed for a shorter round, works as a loosener on arrival day or for a player whose handicap does not yet get them onto the Blue.

A note on the numbers: the club’s French page gives the Red as par 73, its English page as par 72. The hole-by-hole card published by the Hassan II Trophy adds up to 73, which is the figure we use.

For the full picture of the estate (cork oak forest, 440 hectares, the Red’s 9th played over water), see our Royal Golf Dar Es Salam profile.

The rules to know before you travel

Dar Es Salam publishes a detailed set of course rules. The ones that matter for a visiting society or fourball:

  • Access: members and golfers who have paid a green fee only.
  • Tee times: booking is compulsory, at reception, by phone or on the club website. When busy, groups of 4, 3 and 2 have priority and a single player must let everyone through.
  • Handicap: below 18 for the Red, below 28 for the Blue. Bring proof of your handicap index.
  • Dress: “in keeping with the traditions of Golf”; jogging suits, tracksuits, jeans and short shorts are banned. No metal spikes, softspikes only.
  • One bag per player: sharing a bag between two is strictly forbidden.
  • Play: holes in order, one ball, no practising on the course.
  • Buggies: two people maximum, not allowed for under-18s; the club may restrict or ban them in bad weather.
  • Closed: the estate is closed on Mondays.

These rules apply all week: a couple planning to share a bag, or a 24-handicapper hoping to play the Red, needs to know before booking. For how other Moroccan clubs handle this, see our guide to handicap, dress code and caddies.

What a round costs, caddie included

At Dar Es Salam the caddie is not optional on the Red, so add it to the green fee before comparing. Figures from the “Rates 2025” sheet, still online on 9 October 2026:

The lower “Federal” rate (900 MAD on the Red) is for members of the Moroccan federation: a golfer with a UK, Irish or Nordic handicap pays the public rate. The sheet still says 2025, so we reconfirm prices when we quote.

Bahia Golf Beach and Bouznika Bay: the two add-ons

In Rabat itself, Dar Es Salam is the only course on our map; the coast towards Casablanca adds two more, both at Bouznika. They let you vary the golf without changing hotel.

Bahia Golf Beach is an 18-hole Cabell B. Robinson course by the ocean. Its rate sheet mentions no handicap requirement; it also lists a “tarif sac” (bag rate) of 350 MAD without saying whether that is a hire set, so check before travelling without clubs.

Golf de Bouznika Bay is a 9-hole course laid out around the Oued Bouznika, with rolling greens; according to the federation it can be played at nightfall. No official rate is published, so we ask the club when we quote.

The Hassan II Trophy and your dates

The Royal Golf Dar Es Salam hosts the Hassan II Trophy and the Lalla Meryem Cup. The event moved to Agadir from 2011 and returned to Dar Es Salam in 2016. In 2026 the Trophy pro-am was played on Tuesday 19 May on the Red and the Lalla Meryem Cup pro-am on Wednesday 20 May on the Blue. If your trip falls in May, we check the tournament dates before booking your tee times.
