If you want to swap a northern winter for regular golf in the sun, Agadir is the most practical base in Morocco: four golf clubs around the city, afternoon highs of 21 to 24 °C from November to March and, on average, not a single frost day all year. For a stay of several weeks the weather is the easy part. What needs planning is where to play, how to pay for green fees over a whole season and how to stay within Morocco’s 90-day limit.

Agadir's winter weather in numbers

The World Meteorological Organization’s 1991-2020 climate normals for Agadir-Inezgane describe a mild, dry winter. The average daily high never drops below 21 °C, even in January, and it rains on fewer than four days a month. Set against Marrakech, the country’s other big golf destination, the difference that matters for a long stay is the mornings: Agadir’s are noticeably less chilly.

In practice, an early tee time in December or January calls for a jumper, and by the afternoon you are playing in a polo shirt. Most of the rain falls between November and January (32 to 49 mm a month), spread over three or four days a month on average. Compared with a British or Irish winter, that is a lot of playable days.

Agadir's four golf clubs

A whole winter on one course gets repetitive. Agadir has four clubs with different characters, two of them 27-hole venues whose nines combine into several 18-hole layouts: nine loops or courses to rotate through over a season.

Golf du Soleil suits the weeks when you want variety without changing club: two 18-hole courses, a driving range, putting and pitching greens and the David Leadbetter academy. The Championship is flat, easy walking on a tired day; the shorter Tikida winds through eucalyptus and tamarisk.

Golf de l’Océan is the easiest to play without a car, thanks to its free shuttle to the hotel district. Its three nines, combined in different ways, keep things fresh.

Golf des Dunes, the oldest of the four, spreads its three nines over 101 hectares of rolling ground with four large lakes. The 250-metre range is handy for practice sessions between rounds.

Tazegzout, north of the city, sits on a clifftop 80 metres above the Atlantic among argan trees. It is the most spectacular course of the four, worth saving for one or two rounds a week rather than every day. Our Agadir destination guide covers all four clubs in more detail.

Season tickets, multi-round packages and memberships: what is actually published

Over several weeks, paying the full rack rate every round adds up. Here is what each club publishes as of 8 October 2026.

Golf de l'Océan: public packages for 2026-27

The only Agadir club with an up-to-date price list for the coming winter, valid from 1 October 2026 to 30 April 2027:

The club also advertises individual and couple memberships, but the only rate sheet on its site dates from 2022: ask the club for the current season’s price.

Golf du Soleil: 3, 5 and 10-round packages

The club publishes packages of 3, 5 and 10 18-hole green fees, plus a low-season rate from 1 May to 30 September. However, the price list on display on 8 October 2026 is still the 2025-26 one, which expired on 30 September, so we do not quote its figures. One useful detail: the club states that its packages are “nominative and indivisible”, so a 10-round package cannot be split between two players.

Golf des Dunes and Tazegzout: on request

Both courses are run by Madaëf Golfs, which has separate online tee-time booking for members and for visitors. Its “become a member” link leads to a contact form, with no published fees. The Golf des Dunes price page still shows 2019 rates, too old to rely on. For a monthly or seasonal deal at either course, ask the club for a written quote.

Our advice: before signing up for a membership, set it against the rounds you will really play. If you rotate between two or three courses over a winter, green-fee packages at several clubs usually make more sense than a single membership. Our green fees in Morocco guide gives price benchmarks elsewhere in the country.

Staying longer than 90 days: the entry rules

This is the rule that shapes any winter in Morocco. The table below summarises what the British, Irish and French foreign ministries publish for tourist stays.

NationalityDocumentVisaLength of stay
BritishPassport with an expiry date at least 3 months after arrivalNot needed for tourism, up to 90 daysBeyond 90 days, request an extension at a Moroccan police station
IrishPassport valid for at least 6 months from entry; the Passport Card is not acceptedNot neededThe Irish DFA does not state a maximum: check with the Moroccan embassy before a long stay
FrenchPassport valid for the whole stay; the national ID card alone is no longer acceptedNot neededBeyond 3 months (exactly 90 days), apply to Moroccan immigration for an extension of up to 3 months

Three further points. Check that your passport is stamped on arrival: both the UK and French governments warn that a missing entry stamp can cause problems, and the French ministry says it can leave you, without realising it, in breach of your stay. Non-resident visitors must be able to show a return ticket and proof of sufficient funds. And if you bring your own vehicle, the temporary admission granted to tourists lasts 3 months and can be renewed once.

A November-to-March winter is longer than 90 days, so either split it into two stays or apply for the extension in good time. Overstaying is punished with a fine and expulsion with a ban on re-entry.

Where to stay for several weeks

  • A seafront hotel or club resort: the simplest option, with housekeeping and meals on site. It is also the most practical base for Golf de l’Océan, whose free shuttle (bookable, subject to seats) stops at around ten points in the hotel district, including Sofitel, Iberostar Founty Beach, Tikida Beach and Club Robinson.
  • A golf hotel: the Tikida Golf Palace presents Golf du Soleil as its own course, and the club lists a green-fee rate reserved for the hotel’s guests. A good base for playing both of the club’s 18-hole courses every morning.
  • An apartment or residence: more space and a kitchen, well suited to stays of a month or more. You will need to sort out your own transport to the courses.

Getting there and getting around

Ryanair’s route data lists flights to Agadir from Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, London Stansted, Manchester and Dublin (route list checked 8 October 2026; this shows routes, not year-round frequency). For a winter-long stay, check your airline’s sports-equipment fees before booking. Once you are there, our guide to booking golf in Morocco covers tee times, caddies and buggies.

On the ground, the four clubs are close to town: Golf du Soleil at km 7 on the Bensergao road, Golf des Dunes 10 km out, Tazegzout 15 minutes from downtown on the Essaouira road. Golf de l’Océan runs its free shuttle from 1 October 2026 to 30 April 2027. For the others, use taxis or a hire car, which becomes essential if you rent an apartment outside the hotel district.

Planning your season

A rhythm that holds up over several weeks: three or four rounds a week across different clubs, some range work and a few days off. If you are still weighing up the two cities, read Marrakech or Agadir for golf and when to play golf in Morocco.

We build the trip around you: accommodation, tee times across the four clubs, transfers and, if you like, a few days in Marrakech or Essaouira to break up the winter. Our tailor-made golf holidays page explains how it works; send us your dates and ask for a quote.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. According to the WMO’s 1991-2020 normals, Agadir’s average high in January is 21.2 °C and the average low 8.4 °C, with 2.8 days of rain in the month. Early starts are cool; afternoons are pleasant.

Not beyond 90 days without taking action. The UK government says British tourists can stay up to 90 days without a visa and must request an extension at a Moroccan police station to stay longer. Irish citizens do not need a visa, but the Irish DFA does not state a maximum stay, so check with the Moroccan embassy.

For British passports, at least 3 months after your arrival date (UK government). For Irish passports, at least 6 months from the date of entry (Irish DFA), and the Irish Passport Card is not accepted.

Golf de l’Océan publishes 2 and 3-round packages for 2026-27 (1,600 and 2,200 MAD) and offers memberships at a price you need to ask for. Golf du Soleil sells 3, 5 and 10-round packages; ask for the 2026-27 rates. For Golf des Dunes and Tazegzout, membership is on request from the operator.

Not necessarily. Golf de l’Océan’s free shuttle (bookable) serves around ten stops in the hotel district, and the other courses are close to town: Golf du Soleil at km 7 on the Bensergao road, Golf des Dunes 10 km out, Tazegzout 15 minutes from downtown. A car becomes useful if you stay in an apartment outside the hotel area.
