Luxury golf holiday in Marrakech: the five ways to do it

Private villa with a long lit pool and palm trees at dusk

A luxury golf holiday in Marrakech comes in five shapes: a private villa with a chef and transfers, a palace hotel in town with a different course each day, a hotel on the golf course, a riad in the medina with a driver, or a Marrakech and Agadir twin-centre. Only one has a public price: our private-villa stay, from €1,150 (about £970) per golfer. The hotels publish their golf packages with no price shown, and from Jemaa el-Fna square all eight courses we measured are under 25 minutes by road.

The five ways to do it, side by side

Everything below is what each hotel, or our own offer page, publishes itself, checked on 19 October 2026. Drive times come from OSRM, an open routing engine built on OpenStreetMap data, and assume free-flowing traffic: allow longer at rush hour.

Whichever you choose, a caddie is compulsory: the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation made caddies mandatory on every course in a circular dated 29 May 2025. The caddie fee comes on top of the green fee and is often paid in cash.

1. The private villa with chef and transfers

This is the option we put together. Our page on golf holidays in Marrakech lists exactly this: a private villa for 3 to 21 people, a dedicated chef cooking in the villa to the group’s tastes and timings, private transfers between the airport, the villa and each course, and rounds on Marrakech’s 13 courses chosen with you. Prices start at €1,150 per golfer. We do not sell flights or packages: you book your own flights, and we handle the airport welcome, transfers, accommodation, golf and activities. The request form also lists “Private chef” among its optional extras: say what you expect, and the quote sets out what is provided.

What a villa changes in practice:

  • Your timetable, not the hotel’s. Breakfast is served for your tee time, not the buffet’s opening hours. At Samanah, the first tee time is 7.45am in October and 8am in November, according to the club’s published schedule.
  • Dinner at home. After 18 holes and a transfer, the group eats at the villa, with no table to book and no extra drive.
  • The course chosen the night before. The group plays a different course each day without moving luggage once.
  • Privacy. A fourball or a whole society trip fits under one roof, partners included.

Drive times depend on the villa’s address. From the Palmeraie, the Palmeraie course is on the doorstep, The Montgomerie is 18 minutes away, Assoufid 29 minutes and Samanah 32 minutes (OSRM). A villa south of the city brings the Amizmiz and Guemassa road courses closer: see our guide on where to stay in Marrakech for golf.

A villa, a chef and a new course every morning? We build the trip to measure: courses, tee times, accommodation and transfers.

2. A palace hotel in town, a course of your choice each day

Two addresses in the city describe themselves as palaces: La Mamounia and Royal Mansour. Neither has a course, but the courses south of the city are close.

La Mamounia publishes a golf offer, “Golf by La Mamounia”, for stays of three, four nights or more. It includes a minimum of two green fees, depending on the length of stay, chosen from five courses: Royal Golf Marrakech, Amelkis, Assoufid, Royal Palm and Al Maaden. Add return transfers from Marrakech Menara airport, return transfers to the golf clubs, a daily buffet breakfast at Le Pavillon de la Piscine and a 60-minute signature massage. No price is shown on the page.

Royal Mansour, a few steps from Jemaa el-Fna according to the hotel, has 53 private riads on a 5-hectare estate. Its website publishes no golf offer, so tee times, caddies and transfers need arranging separately.

From either hotel, OSRM gives 7 minutes to The Montgomerie and Atlas Golf, 12 to 13 minutes to The Tony Jacklin, 14 to 15 minutes to the Palmeraie course, 16 minutes to Royal Palm, 18 minutes to Assoufid and 20 minutes to Samanah.

3. A hotel on the golf course

Three properties have a direct link to a course, published on their own websites.

  • Fairmont Royal Palm, at km 12 on the Amizmiz road: Cabell B. Robinson’s 18-hole course is on the estate. Access is limited to players with a valid golf licence and a handicap of 28 or better. The hotel publishes two room-and-breakfast packages, bookable until 19 December 2026: 4 nights with 3 green fees (2 at Royal Palm, 1 at Noria) and 7 nights with 5 green fees (3 at Royal Palm, 1 at Noria, 1 at Assoufid), with transfers and 15% off spa treatments. No price is displayed. The golf club’s own website has been offline since 14 October 2026: see our Fairmont Royal Palm course page.
  • Pickalbatros Hôtel du Golf Palmeraie: a five-star, adults-only hotel in the Palmeraie that calls the neighbouring 18 “our championship 18-hole golf course”. Our Golf Club Rotana page covers the course, 27 holes in all according to the federation.
  • Amanjena, at km 12 on the Ouarzazate road, next to the 27 holes of Amelkis Golf Club and a 20-minute drive from the airport according to Aman. Its three-night golf break includes green fees at Amelkis (or the Royal) and Assoufid, daily breakfast and return airport transfers. No price shown.

The catch: a golf hotel ties you to one course. From the Fairmont, The Montgomerie is 16 minutes away; from the Palmeraie, Samanah is 32 minutes. Our guide to Marrakech golf hotels covers each case in detail.

4. A medina riad with a driver

A riad, the traditional courtyard house of the old town, keeps your evenings in the medina. From Jemaa el-Fna square, OSRM gives 9 minutes to Atlas Golf, 10 minutes to The Montgomerie, 15 minutes to The Tony Jacklin, 21 minutes to Assoufid and 23 minutes to Samanah.

The sticking point is the last stretch: car access varies from one house to the next. Before booking, ask where a car can stop, who carries the golf bags and whether breakfast can be served early. For more than four golfers, a dedicated driver with a vehicle big enough for the bags makes every morning simpler.

5. The Marrakech and Agadir twin-centre

Over 7 to 10 nights, you play the inland courses at Marrakech first, then the Atlantic courses at Agadir. The two cities are linked by a motorway of about 234 km, according to a 2007 technical paper by Autoroutes du Maroc; no official journey time is published. Nights, courses and fees are set out in our Marrakech and Agadir twin-centre golf holiday guide.

How to choose

  • A group of 6 to 12 golfers, or golfers with partners: the private villa. One house, meals on your schedule, transfers timed to your tee times.
  • A couple who want the medina and the spa: a palace in town. La Mamounia publishes the only palace golf offer with a choice of five courses.
  • A golfer who wants to walk to the range: a hotel on the course, after checking the handicap limit (28 at Fairmont Royal Palm; by comparison, Assoufid’s limit is 35).
  • More than a week: the twin-centre, or a villa with one or two days off.

Green fees are extra in every option that does not include them: from 600 MAD (The Tony Jacklin Marrakech) to 1,350 MAD (Al Maaden, high season) for a visitor’s 18 holes, according to the club rate cards checked on 19 October 2026. The line-by-line budget is in our Marrakech golf holiday cost guide.
