Marrakech golf hotels: which resorts are really on a course

Marrakech golf course lined with villas and palm trees, the snow-capped Atlas behind

Only a handful of Marrakech hotels are genuinely tied to a golf course. Fairmont Royal Palm sits on its own 18-hole course on the Amizmiz road. In the Palmeraie, two Pickalbatros hotels border the Palmeraie 18. Amanjena lies next to Amelkis, and Mandarin Oriental, on the Route du Golf Royal, offers Royal Golf and Al Maaden to its guests. Anywhere else, you stay in town or in a riad and drive to the first tee; to choose the course, see our ranking of the best golf courses in Marrakech.

We have only listed hotels whose link to a course can be checked on the hotel’s or the club’s official website. Everything below was checked on 8 October 2026. We quote no room rates: they change with dates and booking channel.

Fairmont Royal Palm: a resort built around its course

This is the clearest stay-and-play option in Marrakech. Fairmont describes a resort of 135 accommodation units, 15 minutes from Marrakech Menara airport, with “a top golf course” on the estate and rooms looking over the course to the Atlas. The course is at km 12 on the Amizmiz road.

The Royal Palm is an 18-hole layout by Cabell B. Robinson, par 72 according to the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation. The hotel’s golf page gives opening hours of 8am to 6pm, January to December. Two rules matter when you plan:

  • Access is limited to players with a valid golf licence and a handicap of 28 or better. Beginners and higher handicappers will need to play elsewhere.
  • Buggies are not allowed when it rains; the club asks you to check with golf reception beforehand.

For a society travelling with a non-resident golf professional, the club gives the pro 50% off the green fee, and free access for the pro when the group is seven people or more. See our Fairmont Royal Palm course guide.

In the Palmeraie: the two Pickalbatros hotels

Pickalbatros runs two hotels beside the same 18. Pickalbatros Hôtel du Golf Palmeraie bills itself as a five-star, adults-only hotel with “our championship 18-hole golf course”. Pickalbatros Palmeraie Golf Palace sits “right next to” the course, according to its website, in 4 hectares of gardens with 13 outdoor pools and an indoor pool.

Neither hotel website names the course architect. The link is the address: the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation places Rotana Palmeraie Golf Club at Circuit de la Palmeraie, BP 1488, the same PO box as the Golf Palace. The federation describes an 18-hole, par 72 course by Robert Trent Jones Senior. We cover it in our Golf Club Rotana guide.

Your group decides between them: the Hôtel du Golf takes adults only, which suits a golfing four; the Golf Palace takes families too.

Amanjena: next door to Amelkis

Aman describes Amanjena as “ideally located adjacent to the lush fairways of the Amelkis Golf Course”. The resort has 40 pavilions and villas, and Aman puts Marrakech airport 20 minutes away by car.

Amelkis is a 27-hole course by Cabell B. Robinson at km 12 on the Ouarzazate road, set in a private estate of more than 450 hectares, according to the club. Aman also sells a three-night golf break that includes green fees at Amelkis (or Royal Golf) and Assoufid, daily breakfast and return airport transfers. No price is shown on the page. More in our Amelkis Golf Club guide.

Mandarin Oriental: between Royal Golf and Al Maaden

Mandarin Oriental Marrakech gives its address as the Route du Golf Royal. The hotel stands in 20 hectares of olive groves and gardens, about 15 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from the medina, according to its website. Among its experiences it lists two courses: Royal Golf, “a legendary 27-hole course” commissioned in 1927, and Al Maaden, designed by Kyle Phillips.

The hotel does not publish the walking or driving distance to either course, so we do not call it an on-course hotel. One practical point at Royal Golf: since 28 May 2025 the club has made a forecaddie compulsory, paid in cash and charged per caddie rather than per player (200 to 300 MAD for 18 holes depending on group size, on the club’s price list read on 8 October 2026). The historic Old Course is an 18-hole par 72 of 5,871 metres, alongside a nine-hole loop. See our Royal Golf Marrakech and Al Maaden guides.

Stay on the course or base yourself in town?

An on-course hotel keeps things simple: tee off in the morning with no transfer, and a non-golfing partner has the spa and pool. It also ties you to one course, while our site covers 13 courses around Marrakech, spread along several roads out of the city: the Amizmiz road, the Guemassa road, the Tahanaout road, the Ourika road, the Ouarzazate road and the Palmeraie.

  • Playing the same course most days: an on-course hotel makes sense, if you meet the access rules (handicap 28 at Fairmont Royal Palm).
  • A society playing several courses: pick a hotel close to the courses you want, whether or not it has its own. Our Marrakech courses compared page helps you shortlist.
  • Golf plus the medina: a riad or city hotel with transfers keeps your evenings in town.

What we leave out until it is verified

Booking sites label other properties as golf hotels. We have left them out where neither the hotel nor the course confirms the link on an official page. That includes a hotel said to be on the Al Maaden estate, shown only on booking platforms, and golf residences whose official sites offer no accommodation. If a hotel tempts you, ask it in writing for the real distance to the first tee, whether hotel guests get a green fee rate, and how tee times are booked.

We put together tailor-made Marrakech golf holidays around your handicaps, group size and the courses you want to play: on-course or city accommodation, booked tee times and transfers. Ask us for a quote with your dates.

Frequently asked questions

Fairmont Royal Palm, on the Amizmiz road, presents the 18-hole Royal Palm course by Cabell B. Robinson as part of its resort. In the Palmeraie, Pickalbatros Hôtel du Golf also presents the neighbouring 18 as its course.

Yes. The hotel’s golf page limits access to players with a valid golf licence and a handicap of 28 or better, as read on 8 October 2026.

Amanjena describes itself as adjacent to the Amelkis fairways. Aman also sells a three-night golf break with green fees at Amelkis (or Royal Golf) and Assoufid.

Its address is the Route du Golf Royal and it offers Royal Golf and Al Maaden to guests, but it publishes no distance to either course. We therefore do not list it as an on-course hotel.

On the course if you will mostly play that layout and want to avoid transfers. In town, or close to your chosen courses, if you plan to play several of the 13 Marrakech courses on our site.
