Fairway and green on a Marrakech golf course

For three days of golf in Marrakech, stay in one place and play one course a day: Royal Golf Marrakech for the history, Al Maaden for Kyle Phillips’ modern design, then Amelkis and its 27 holes. At the visitor rates the clubs published when we checked them on 9 October 2026, that trio costs 3,500 MAD in green fees per player, plus the compulsory forecaddie at Royal Golf Marrakech. On a tighter budget, The Tony Jacklin Marrakech, Atlas Golf and The Montgomerie come to 1,950 MAD.

Every price below is a public 18-hole visitor rate from the club’s or operator’s own website. Where no validity period is shown, we say so.

Day 1: Royal Golf Marrakech, the 1927 course

Royal Golf Marrakech was laid out by Gustave Golias and Arnaud Massy and welcomed its first players in 1927. The club describes it as the second-oldest course in the Kingdom and the favourite of the late King Hassan II. The Old Course is an 18-hole par 72 of 5,871 metres, played among some 15,000 trees: palms, orange trees, eucalyptus and pines.

The club also has the 9-hole New Course, par 36, opened in 2008. If you arrive too late for 18 holes, the 9-hole green fee is 700 MAD, so the first afternoon need not be wasted.

Budget for the caddie here. Since 28 May 2025, following a note from the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation, a forecaddie is compulsory. The fee is per caddie, not per player: 200 MAD for a one- or two-ball, 250 MAD for a three-ball and 300 MAD for a fourball over 18 holes, paid in cash directly to the caddie. A buggy is optional at 450 MAD, a trolley costs 70 MAD and a hired bag of clubs 400 MAD.

Day 2: Al Maaden, a Kyle Phillips design

Al Maaden opened at the start of 2010 and carries the signature of architect Kyle Phillips. The club gives it as an 18-hole par 73 of 6,569 metres (7,184 yards) across 72 hectares at the foot of the Atlas, a few minutes from the city centre according to the federation. The water features were designed by the Madrid landscape architect Fernando Caruncho, and twelve sculptures stand on and around the course.

It is nearly 700 metres longer than the Old Course, so play it rested, after a shorter first day. Warm up on the 300-metre driving range, which comes with a grass practice area, putting green, approach green and practice bunkers.

Al Maaden publishes the highest 2026-27 green fee among the Marrakech clubs that show one: 1,350 MAD in high season, from 5 September 2026 to 30 June 2027. In low season, from 1 July to 4 September 2027, it drops to 840 MAD. A caddie costs 200 MAD for 18 holes (the club’s rate card says “on request”, but a Royal Moroccan Golf Federation circular of 29 May 2025 makes a caddie compulsory on every course in Morocco), a buggy costs 400 MAD and club hire 400 MAD.

Day 3: Amelkis and its three loops of nine

Amelkis Golf Club, designed by Cabell B. Robinson, has 27 holes in three loops of nine: Red, Blue and Green. It sits at km 12 on the Ouarzazate road, ten minutes from the centre of Marrakech according to the club. Seven lakes, red-earth bunkers and several doglegs set the rhythm.

On your last day the format is handy. Play 18 holes by combining two loops, or a single nine for 550 MAD if your flight home leaves in the afternoon. The 18-hole green fee is 950 MAD, a buggy 400 MAD and a bag of hire clubs 350 MAD. The clubhouse and its restaurant are open every day of the week.

All thirteen courses are side by side in our guide to Marrakech golf courses compared, and ranked on our page of the best golf courses in Marrakech.

Where to stay for these three courses

With one course a day, one base is enough. If you want to sleep next to the fairways, Amanjena describes itself as near the 27-hole Amelkis course and sells a three-night golf break (green fees at Amelkis or Royal Golf and at Assoufid, daily breakfast, return airport transfers), with no price shown online. The Fairmont Royal Palm, at km 12 on the Amizmiz road, has its own 18-hole course. Our page on Marrakech golf hotels lists which resorts actually sit on a course.

Adapting the three days to your game

None of the three classic courses publishes a maximum handicap, and Marrakech has plenty of alternatives. Here are three variations by budget and standard.

Tight budget: 1,950 MAD in green fees

The three cheapest published 18-hole visitor rates in Marrakech make a coherent trip:

  • The Tony Jacklin Marrakech (Argan Golf Resort, Tahanaout road): 600 MAD. An 18-hole par 72 of 6,550 metres plus a 9-hole par-3 course, on 70 hectares facing the Atlas. Buggy 350 MAD, caddie 150 MAD.
  • Atlas Golf (Amizmiz road): 650 MAD for 18 holes, which means two rounds of its 9-hole course designed by Alain Prat. Caddie 120 MAD, buggy 400 MAD; the club asks you to book caddies and buggies 24 hours ahead.
  • The Montgomerie (Avenue Guemassa): 700 MAD. A par 71 of 6,230 metres designed by Colin Montgomerie with European Golf Design, about 10 minutes (5 km) from Jemaa el-Fna square. Buggy 350 MAD, caddie 150 MAD.

Total: 600 + 650 + 700 = 1,950 MAD. None of these three clubs shows a validity period. The full ranking is in our guide to the cheapest golf in Marrakech.

Low handicappers: the courses with an entry condition

Two Marrakech courses publish an access condition. The Fairmont Royal Palm (18 holes, par 72, designed by Cabell B. Robinson) is reserved for players with a valid golf licence and a handicap of 28 or better, and requires at least one caddie per group (200 MAD per round, in cash). Its 2026-27 rates were still not online on 9 October 2026: the page still shows the 2025-26 seasons, so ask for the price when you book.

Assoufid Golf Club (par 72, 6,440 metres or 7,042 yards, designed by Niall Cameron, Guemassa road) accepts a maximum handicap of 35, and you must show your handicap certificate at reception before paying. Its green fee is 1,300 MAD from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027, with range balls included. A more demanding trip can therefore pair the Fairmont Royal Palm, Assoufid and Al Maaden.

Beginners or no official handicap

Royal Golf Marrakech, Al Maaden, Amelkis, The Tony Jacklin Marrakech, The Montgomerie and Atlas Golf publish no maximum handicap on their rates pages. For a first taste, Royal Golf Marrakech runs a 90-minute introduction session at 300 MAD, and the 9-hole Atlas Golf lets you play a short loop.

The full three-day budget

The caddie and the buggy are what move the bill, in dirhams as the clubs publish them.

Worked example for two players sharing a buggy and, at Royal Golf Marrakech, one caddie. Classic trio: 3,500 MAD in green fees, 100 MAD of caddie (200 MAD split two ways) and 625 MAD of buggies ((450 + 400 + 400) split two ways), so 4,225 MAD per player for the three days. Budget trio with no caddie: 1,950 MAD in green fees and 550 MAD of buggies ((350 + 400 + 350) split two ways), so 2,500 MAD per player. Neither total includes club hire (400 MAD for 18 holes at Royal Golf Marrakech, Al Maaden, Assoufid and Atlas Golf, 350 MAD at Amelkis), transfers or accommodation. For a longer stay, see our Marrakech golf break itineraries.

When to go and what to book in advance

The 1991-2020 climate normals for the Marrakech-Menara station tell the story. In December and January the average daily maximum is around 20 °C (20.1 °C and 19.1 °C); it reaches 25.7 °C in April and 28.5 °C in October. In July it climbs to 37.7 °C, with an average of 22.9 days at 35 °C or more. A couple of clubs cut prices in summer (Al Maaden at 840 MAD from 1 July to 4 September 2027, Atlas Golf at 500 MAD with undated “summer rates”); our guide to golf in Marrakech in summer covers low-season fees and tee-time tactics.

Three things to sort before you travel:

  • Book buggies where they are scarce: the Fairmont Royal Palm warns it has a limited number, and Atlas Golf asks for 24 hours’ notice.
  • Carry cash in dirhams for the caddies at Royal Golf Marrakech and the Fairmont Royal Palm.
  • Check your passport’s validity (see the last question below) and make sure it is stamped on arrival.

Flights are not included: you book them yourself. The ground arrangements, from tee times to a private villa, are set out on our page about golf holidays in Marrakech.

Yes, on every course, since a Royal Moroccan Golf Federation circular of 29 May 2025. At Royal Golf Marrakech it costs 200 to 300 MAD per caddie for 18 holes depending on the number of players, in cash. The Fairmont Royal Palm required at least one caddie per group (200 MAD) (2025-26 rate card; club website offline on 16 October 2026). Al Maaden and Assoufid show it as “on request” on their rate cards (200 and 250 MAD).

The Fairmont Royal Palm asked for a valid licence and a handicap of 28 or better (club website offline on 16 October 2026); Assoufid accepts up to 35 on presentation of a certificate. The other courses in this plan publish no maximum handicap, but bring your certificate if you have one.

From October to April, average daily maximums range from 19.1 °C in January to 28.5 °C in October. In July and August they exceed 37 °C, so tee off early if you go in summer and use the low-season rates at Al Maaden or Atlas Golf.

Yes. Royal Golf Marrakech, Al Maaden, Assoufid and Atlas Golf hire out a set for 400 MAD for 18 holes, and Amelkis for 350 MAD. Ask for clubs when you book your tee time.

A passport. The UK government asks for at least 3 months’ validity after arrival and allows visa-free stays of up to 90 days for tourism; Irish advice asks for 6 months’ validity from entry, and the Irish passport card is not accepted.
