Golf ball on a tee with a club head behind it

Morocco has “more than 40 golf clubs”, according to the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG), whose online directory lists 41 club pages across 18 cities as of 9 October 2026. Across the 15 published 18-hole green fees we checked that day, prices run from 420 to 1,350 MAD, with a median of 800 MAD. In winter, Marrakech and Agadir each see around ten rain days over three months (WMO 1991-2020 normals).

This page brings together the numbers that matter when you plan, or write about, a golf trip to Morocco. Every figure points to a dated official source: the federation, the clubs’ own websites, Morocco’s tourism ministry and the World Meteorological Organization’s climate normals. Where we did the arithmetic ourselves, the method is set out at the bottom of the page. Anything we could not source has been left out.

Clubs listed by the federation, city by city

On its “Où jouer” (where to play) page, the FRMG says Morocco has “more than 40 golf clubs”, made up of traditional 18-hole courses, 9-hole courses and practice areas. We counted the club pages on its website: there are 41, all live on 9 October 2026. The city grouping is the federation’s own (Tazegzout, for example, is filed under Agadir).

Total41 pages, 18 cities100%

Eight of the 41 pages describe a single 9-hole course only: Dakhla, Oujda, Nador, Meknes, Atlas Golf in Marrakech, Bouznika Bay, Royal Golf d’Agadir and the Anfa site of Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia. A directory listing is not a promise of a tee time: several clubs are private or publish no visitor rate. Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia is one club on two sites, so it has two pages.

Numbers help you pick a destination; the trip still needs building. We build the trip to measure: courses, tee times, accommodation and transfers.

Our selection: 36 courses, 729 holes

This site has 37 course pages; the figures below cover the 36 courses in our selection, chosen for travelling golfers. It is a selection, not a census: it covers 35 of the federation’s 41 club pages and adds Golf Akenza in Marrakech, which is not in the federation directory. Our Golf de Lixus page (Larache) is not counted: the club is not listed by the FRMG and we could not confirm that it is open. Marrakech accounts for 13 of them, more than a third: enough for a different course every day of a week without changing city.

  • 31 of the 36 courses have at least 18 holes; 5 are 9-hole courses.
  • Eight clubs in our selection have more than 18 holes (three more, Al Houara, Samanah and Tazegzout, add a short 9-hole loop to their 18), including Royal Golf Dar Es Salam (45 holes on three courses) and Golf du Soleil in Agadir (36 holes).
  • The 729 includes 36 holes on short 9-hole add-on loops (par-3, pitch and putt or short course) at Al Houara, Samanah, Tazegzout and The Tony Jacklin Marrakech; without them, the total is 693. Mogador’s South course is not counted, as our page gives no hole count for it.

Published green fees on 9 October 2026

We kept the clubs in our selection that publish an 18-hole visitor or public green fee online, checked on 9 October 2026. Fifteen rates qualify. Rate sheets labelled with a period that has ended are left out (Dar Es Salam still shows “Rates 2025”), and several clubs publish no prices at all. All rates are in Moroccan dirhams as published; we have not converted them. Extras and course-by-course detail are in our guide to green fees in Morocco.

How to read it: in Marrakech, half of the published rates are above 1,025 MAD; elsewhere the median drops to 750 MAD. None of these figures includes the caddie, which is compulsory and charged on top, or a buggy.

Winter golf weather

The World Meteorological Organization’s 1991-2020 climate normals give thirty-year averages station by station. We used the stations closest to the golfing cities. For a month-by-month view, see our guide on when to play golf in Morocco.

A “rain day” is a day with at least 1 mm of precipitation. Of the eight stations, Agadir has the highest winter daytime averages and the fewest rain days. Marrakech is close behind on rain but has cooler mornings, with an average January low of 5.9 °C, so pack a layer for an early tee time.

The FRMG does not publish its total number of licensed golfers on its website. It did give trends at its general assembly in July 2024. Morocco’s tourism ministry publishes overall figures, with no golf-specific breakdown.

Method and sources

  • Federation clubs: 41 club pages taken from the FRMG site map, each opened on 9 October 2026; city taken from the page name. Single 9-hole courses are read from the “holes” counters on each page.
  • Our selection: hole count shown on each of the 36 course pages in our selection, add-on loops included, Mogador’s South course excluded.
  • Green fees: 18-hole visitor or public rate, read on 9 October 2026 from each club’s rate page; the weekday rate where the club splits weekday and weekend; median = middle value of the ranked rates.
  • Weather: WMO 1991-2020 normals (files published by NOAA); rain days for a period are the sum of the monthly averages.
  • Left out for lack of an official source: total number of licensed golfers, number of overseas golfers, economic weight of golf, annual sunshine hours.

You are welcome to quote these figures, citing “Golf Addict Club, Morocco golf statistics, checked 9 October 2026”, together with the original source given for each figure.

Frequently asked questions

The Royal Moroccan Golf Federation says Morocco has “more than 40 golf clubs”. Its online directory lists 41 club pages across 18 cities (our count on 9 October 2026), including 12 in Marrakech, 5 in Agadir and 4 in Casablanca.

According to the federation, the kingdom’s first course opened in Tangier in 1914. Royal Country Club de Tanger, founded that year, describes itself as the oldest course in Morocco.

Across 15 published 18-hole green fees checked on 9 October 2026, the cheapest is 420 MAD (The Tony Jacklin Casablanca on a weekday), the dearest 1,350 MAD (Al Maaden in high season) and the median 800 MAD. In Marrakech the median rises to 1,025 MAD.

According to the WMO 1991-2020 normals, Marrakech averages 10.8 days with at least 1 mm of rain across December, January and February combined, and Agadir 9.1. The average January high is 19.1 °C in Marrakech and 21.2 °C in Agadir.

The federation does not publish a total on its website. It reported a 25% rise in licensed golfers in 2023, with juniors going from 18% of members in 2021 to 40% in 2023.

Created in 1971, the Hassan II Trophy held its 50th edition from 18 to 24 May 2026 at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat, alongside the 29th Lalla Meryem Cup.
