Green and palm-lined lake on the Palmeraie course in Marrakech at sunset

Golf Club Palmeraie, now sold by tour operators under the Pickalbatros name, is the same golf club as Golf Club Rotana: 27 holes according to the FRMG, an 18-hole, par 72 layout of 6,200 metres designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior and a 9-hole par 36 of 3,309 metres by Stéphane Talbot, on the Circuit de la Palmeraie in Marrakech, PO Box 1488. The Egyptian group Pickalbatros bought the Palmeraie Resort complex in September 2024 and markets the course as the “18-hole championship golf course” of its two neighbouring hotels. As of 15 October 2026, neither the club, the operator nor the Moroccan federation publishes a green fee, so the rate has to be confirmed when you book.

Palmeraie Golf Club at a glance

We checked every official page available on 15 October 2026: the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG) course page, the Pickalbatros group website and dated Moroccan business press. We found no website of its own for the club. The “website” link on the federation page points to a page run by the former operator, Rotana, which now returns “page not available”.

A word on the second course. The federation still shows two layouts on its page: the Robert Trent Jones Senior 18 and a 9-hole par 36 by Stéphane Talbot. Both Pickalbatros hotels only ever mention an “18-hole championship golf course”. Until the operator lists the nine-holer, we do not treat it as playable.

Palmeraie, Rotana, Pickalbatros, Palmeraie Country Club: who is who

The confusion comes from one course that has changed operator, and therefore name, while many listings online have not caught up. Here is what the sources actually support.

  • Golf Club Rotana. The name the FRMG still uses: “Rotana Palmeraie Golf Club Marrakech”, Circuit de la Palmeraie, PO Box 1488. Rotana managed the Palmeraie Resort complex from 2020. Our Golf Club Rotana course page covers this same layout.
  • Golf Club Palmeraie by Pickalbatros. The name you will see with tour operators and booking platforms since the sale. The group’s own website does not name the course, but gives the Palmeraie Golf Palace address as “Palmeraie Circuit, P.O. Box 1488”, the same PO box the federation gives for the golf club, and places the hotel “right next to” the 18 holes.
  • Palmeraie Golf Palace. A hotel, not a course: one of the two Pickalbatros properties that border the fairways.
  • Palmeraie Country Club. We found no official page (club, federation or operator) under this name. The only mention we found, on a sports software supplier’s website, describes, under that name, a leisure complex in Morocco with an 18-hole course, with no date and no address. Nothing shows it is a separate club: if a quote or an agent mentions the “Palmeraie Country Club”, ask for the exact address of the first tee.

In practice, the address is the reliable marker: Circuit de la Palmeraie, PO Box 1488. A tee time booked at “Golf Club Rotana”, “Golf Club Palmeraie” or “Pickalbatros Golf Club” takes you to the same first tee.

Palmeraie golf green fees for 2026-27

No official rate is published. On 15 October 2026 we looked for a rate card on the club’s FRMG page, on both Pickalbatros hotel websites and on Rotana’s golf page, which no longer exists. None of them gives a figure. The prices circulating online come from resellers, not from the operator, so we do not repeat them.

To put the Palmeraie in context, here is what other major Marrakech courses publish themselves, checked on the same day.

CourseHoles and parDesignerPublished 18-hole green fee
Golf Club Palmeraie (Pickalbatros)27 holes: an 18-hole par 72 and a 9-hole par 36Robert Trent Jones Senior (18 holes), Stéphane Talbot (9 holes)Not published
Al Maaden Golf18 holes, par 73 according to the clubKyle Phillips1,350 MAD in high season (5 Sept 2026 to 30 June 2027); 840 MAD in low season (1 July to 4 Sept 2027)
Amelkis Golf Club27 holesCabell B. Robinson950 MAD (rate card shows no validity period)
Fairmont Royal Palm18 holes, par 72Cabell B. Robinson2026-27 rates not published

What this means for a quote: at the Palmeraie, the green fee is whatever the operator agrees to confirm in writing when you book, and no page says whether it differs for guests of the group’s two hotels. For the clubs that do publish rates, our ranking of the cheapest golf in Marrakech sets out the 2026-27 figures.

The sale and the refurbishment: where things stand

On 22 September 2024, the Moroccan news site Le360 reported that the Egyptian group Pickalbatros had bought the Palmeraie Resort complex from Palmassets SA. According to the same report, the complex was founded in 1993 by the Berrada Sounni group, covers 230 hectares, had been managed by Rotana since 2020, and Pickalbatros planned to renovate every unit of the complex. Bladi, on the same day, listed the resort as including the Hôtel du Golf (315 rooms), the Palmeraie Palace (314 rooms) and “the Golf Club with 11 exclusive suites”.

Since then, no official source has published a works schedule for the course or announced its closure. Both Pickalbatros hotels still list the 18 holes among their activities. Before you lock in a tee time, ask in writing whether all 18 holes will be open on your date and whether any work is going on around the course.

Staying on the course: the two Pickalbatros hotels

This is the Palmeraie’s strongest card for a golf break: you can sleep steps from the course. The group runs two hotels here, which we also compare in our guide to Marrakech golf hotels.

HotelWhat the operator publishesBest for
Pickalbatros Hôtel du Golf Palmeraie5-star, adults-only; calls the 18 holes “our championship 18-hole golf course”; Jawhara, Karmoussa and Pasta Cosy restaurants; bars including the Hole 19 Bar; address Circuit de la Palmeraie 1Couples or groups of adults playing mainly this course
Palmeraie Golf Palace by Pickalbatros324 rooms and suites, including family suites; 4 hectares of gardens; 13 outdoor pools and an indoor pool; 1,200 m² spa; bars serving cocktails, spirits and local wines, some overlooking the course; “right next to” the 18 holesFamilies and non-golfing partners

Neither website publishes a package that includes green fees, so that is something to have priced in your quote, along with the buggy and the caddie.

Before you book: caddies, handicap and what to ask

Since the federation circular of 29 May 2025, using a caddie has been compulsory on every golf course in Morocco “during rounds played”. The Palmeraie is no exception, even though its caddie fee is not published. Our guide to handicap, dress code and caddies in Morocco applies here as everywhere else. For UK travellers, the UK government says your passport must be valid for at least three months after the date you arrive.

Because the club publishes no rate card and no club rules, get these points confirmed in writing before you pay:

  • the 18-hole green fee on your date, and whether it changes for guests of the Pickalbatros hotels;
  • the maximum handicap accepted and the proof of handicap required;
  • the cost of a caddie, a buggy and hire clubs;
  • whether all 18 holes are open on your date, and whether any work is under way;
  • whether Stéphane Talbot’s 9-hole course is available, if you want to play it.

Is the Palmeraie the right base for a golf break?

Yes, if you want a hotel on the course and plan to play the same layout several times: a Robert Trent Jones Senior 18 outside the door, with pools and a spa for a non-golfing partner, is a simple formula. Less so if you want to play several courses: according to the addresses the FRMG publishes, the eleven other Marrakech courses it lists sit on the Amizmiz road, Avenue Guemassa, the Tahanaout, Ourika and Ouarzazate roads, or in Sidi Youssef Ben Ali for Al Maaden; the Palmeraie is the only one the federation places in this district. Our guide on where to stay in Marrakech for golf compares the areas, and the Marrakech page lists every course in the city.

A trip can also split the difference: a few nights in the Palmeraie for golf on the doorstep, then a base closer to the other courses. For this kind of combination, send us your dates and courses via our golf holidays in Marrakech page.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The FRMG still calls the course Rotana Palmeraie Golf Club, at Circuit de la Palmeraie, PO Box 1488, and Pickalbatros gives its Palmeraie Golf Palace the same PO box, right next to the 18 holes. Rotana managed the complex from 2020; Pickalbatros bought it in September 2024.

As of 15 October 2026, no official rate is published by the club, by Pickalbatros or by the federation. Reseller prices do not come from the operator. Ask for the rate in writing when you book.

The FRMG lists 27 holes: an 18-hole par 72 of 6,200 metres designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior and a 9-hole par 36 by Stéphane Talbot. But the operator only mentions the 18, so get the nine-holer confirmed before you count on it.

No official source has announced a closure as of 15 October 2026. According to Moroccan press reports in September 2024, Pickalbatros plans to renovate the whole complex, with no published timetable for the course. Ask in writing whether all 18 holes are open on your date.

Pickalbatros Hôtel du Golf Palmeraie is an adults-only 5-star hotel that presents the 18 holes as its own course. The Palmeraie Golf Palace, right next to the course, has 324 rooms and suites, 13 outdoor pools and a spa, and suits families better.
