Marrakech vs Belek for golf: seasons, green fees and weather

Belek and Marrakech both offer a week of golf from one base, but they peak at different times of year. The Belek clubs we checked treat December to mid-February as low season, when Antalya averages 15 to 17 °C in the afternoon, with 9 to 10 rainy days in December and January; Marrakech is warmer and drier in those months and charges its high-season rates. Belek’s clubs charge their top rates in spring and autumn; Marrakech’s clearest weather advantage is from December to February. For the Canary Islands, read Marrakech vs Tenerife for winter golf.
The figures below come from the clubs’ own websites and from World Meteorological Organization normals, all checked on 9 October 2026. Belek clubs publish in euros, Marrakech clubs in dirhams (MAD). We do not convert dirhams; where we add a sterling figure, it is converted from euros at the European Central Bank rate of 8 October 2026.
What Carya and the National charge in 2026-27
Carya Golf Club and the National Golf Club, both linked to the Regnum Carya resort, publish full grids for the coming season on their sites. Their logic is explicit: Carya describes spring and autumn as high season and summer and winter as low seasons. One oddity: Carya’s table is still headed “2025-2026 Green Fee Rates”, but every period in it runs from October 2026 to September 2027.

Guests of the Regnum hotel pay a lower “Regnum rack rate” at both clubs, for example €155 at Carya and €145 at the National in high season. At Al Maaden Golf, the high season runs from 5 September 2026 to 30 June 2027, which is why the dirham column barely moves.
Across Marrakech, the eight clubs with a current published rate charge 600 to 1,350 MAD for 18 holes: The Tony Jacklin Marrakech 600, Atlas Golf 650, The Montgomerie 700, Amelkis 950, Samanah 1,100, Royal Golf Marrakech 1,200, Assoufid 1,300 and Al Maaden 1,350. Buggies, caddies and the extras
In Belek, the green fee is the green fee: Carya and the National both list a golf car at €60 for 18 holes (€70 to reserve one in advance), a trolley at €12, an electric trolley at €25 and a full set of hire clubs at €40 a day or €110 a week. Neither club’s price list mentions caddies.
Marrakech works differently. At the Royal Golf Marrakech, a forecaddie has been compulsory since 28 May 2025: 200 MAD for one or two players, 250 MAD for three, 300 MAD for four, per caddie for 18 holes, in cash. Fairmont Royal Palm required at least one caddie per group, at 200 MAD in cash (2025-26 rate card; club website offline on 16 October 2026). Assoufid (250 MAD) and Al Maaden (200 MAD) list the caddie as “on request”, and The Montgomerie (150 MAD) and Atlas Golf (120 MAD) publish a caddie rate; a Royal Moroccan Golf Federation circular of 29 May 2025 makes a caddie compulsory on every course in Morocco. Buggies cost 350 to 450 MAD for 18 holes where a price is published.

Rainy days are days with more than 1 mm at Antalya and with 1 mm or more at Marrakech, as each station reports them. The rain gap is widest in January, when Marrakech has about a third of Antalya’s rainy days and is 4.1 °C warmer; the temperature gap is widest in February and March (4.7 and 5.1 °C). Courses, names and rules
The National is the elder statesman of Belek: it opened on 18 November 1994, was the first golf club to open in Türkiye, and was designed by David Feherty and David Jones. In Marrakech, the Royal Golf Marrakech says it welcomed its first players in 1927, on a layout by Gustave Golias and Arnaud Massy.
Fans of Colin Montgomerie can play his work in both places. The Montgomerie Maxx Royal in Belek is an 18-hole course designed by him, which has hosted European Tour events; it does not publish its green fees online. In Marrakech, The Montgomerie is a par 71 of 6,230 metres with 81 bunkers, at 700 MAD for 18 holes. Other Marrakech signatures include Kyle Phillips at Al Maaden, Nicklaus Design at Samanah and Cabell B. Robinson at Amelkis and Fairmont Royal Palm.
- Handicap: Carya and the National require a handicap certificate, maximum 36 for men and women. In Marrakech, Fairmont Royal Palm asked for a valid licence and 28 or better (club website offline on 16 October 2026), Assoufid a certificate and 35 maximum.
- Floodlights: Carya sells floodlit rounds, at €195 for 18 holes in high season and €130 from December to 10 February.
- Maintenance: Carya closes for overseeding from 15 to 30 September 2027, the National from 10 to 24 September 2027. Check these dates if you plan a September trip.
- Entry to Morocco: UK travellers need a passport valid for at least three months after arrival, according to the Foreign Office.
Which one, for which golfer
Belek makes sense in October, November and from mid-February to May, the clubs’ high season, if you want two courses linked to an all-inclusive resort that sits on the Carya course, and a price list in euros. Carya also states that food and drink at its clubhouse are included in the Regnum’s all-inclusive package for hotel guests, except at the buggy bars and halfway house. December to early February is cheap in Belek, but you trade that for cooler and wetter days.
Marrakech makes more sense from December to February, when it is warmer and drier, and for golfers who want variety: there are thirteen Marrakech courses on our site, so a week can be a different course every day from the same hotel. The city is a destination in itself, and the caddie culture is part of the experience. One thing to plan for: Ramadan, next starting in February 2027 according to the Foreign Office, when eating, drinking or smoking in public in daytime can cause offence.

Marrakech. WMO 1991-2020 normals give an average January high of 19.1 °C in Marrakech against 15.0 °C at Antalya, with 3.0 rainy days against 9.6.

What handicap do I need in Belek and Marrakech?

When does Belek suit a golf trip?
In autumn and spring, the Belek clubs’ high season, when Antalya averages 21.6 to 27.3 °C in the afternoon in October, November, April and May. Marrakech is warmer and drier than Antalya in every month of the WMO table, with the largest rain gap from December to February.
