Marrakech Golf Break: 3, 4 and 7-Night Itineraries

Al Maaden Golf, Marrakech, with the snow-capped Atlas mountains behind

A Marrakech golf break works best when you group your rounds by area: two rounds on a 3-night stay, three on 4 nights, and four or five on 7 nights, each day spent on courses that share the same road out of the city. Below are three sample plans built that way, with the direct flights and golf bag rules we could confirm from airline and airport sources on 28 September 2026. They are templates, not packages: we will adjust them to your dates, handicaps and flights.

How the courses group around Marrakech

The Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG) lists each club’s official address. Grouping them by the road in that address gives six clusters, which is the easiest way to keep a day’s golf in one direction:

Area (road in the official address)Courses
Route d’Amizmiz (south-west)Samanah (km 14), Fairmont Royal Palm (km 12), Atlas Golf (9 holes)
Avenue Guemassa, airport sideAssoufid (km 10), The Montgomerie
Route de Tahanaout (south)Noria (km 5), The Tony Jacklin Marrakech
Route de l’Ourika (south)PalmGolf Ourika
Route de Ouarzazate (south-east)Amelkis (km 12), Royal Golf Marrakech
Palmeraie (north-east)Golf Club Rotana

The grouping is by address only; it is not a promise about traffic. Where clubs give a travel time, we quote them: Assoufid says it is 20 minutes from the Medina, Samanah 15 minutes from the airport and 30 from the Medina, Amelkis 10 minutes from the centre. The federation describes Noria as a few minutes from the airport and Avenue Mohammed VI, and gives The Montgomerie’s address as the airport road. More on each course in our Marrakech course guide, and holes, par, designers and fees side by side in Marrakech golf courses compared.

3 nights: two rounds, one direction each day

A long weekend leaves two full days between an arrival and a departure day. Play one area per day:

  • Day 1 – arrive. Settle in; if your flight lands early, a nine at Atlas Golf is a light start.
  • Day 2 – Avenue Guemassa. Assoufid: 18 holes, par 72, by Niall Cameron, opened in October 2014. Practice balls are included in the green fee.
  • Day 3 – Route de Ouarzazate. Royal Golf Marrakech, opened in 1927. A caddie has been compulsory there since 28 May 2025.
  • Day 4 – depart.

Handicap check before you book: Assoufid states a maximum of 35.

4 nights: three rounds, three areas

  • Day 1 – arrive.
  • Day 2 – Route d’Amizmiz. Samanah, a Nicklaus Design par 72 that hosted the Morocco Champions in January 2020, or Fairmont Royal Palm, a Cabell B. Robinson par 72 around five lakes.
  • Day 3 – Route de Tahanaout. Noria (par 73, three loops of six holes) or The Tony Jacklin Marrakech (18 holes plus a nine-hole par-3 course).
  • Day 4 – Route de Ouarzazate. Amelkis, 27 holes in three nines, or Royal Golf Marrakech.
  • Day 5 – depart.

If anyone in the group plays off more than 28, leave Fairmont out: it required a valid golf licence and a handicap of 28 or better (club website offline on 16 October 2026). Samanah publishes no handicap limit on its site, but confirm when you book.

7 nights: five rounds and a rest day

A full week lets you cover every area without playing every day:

  • Day 1 – arrive.
  • Day 2 – Avenue Guemassa: Assoufid or The Montgomerie (par 71, 81 bunkers, designed by Colin Montgomerie with European Golf Design).
  • Day 3 – Route d’Amizmiz: Samanah or Fairmont Royal Palm.
  • Day 4 – Route de l’Ourika: PalmGolf Ourika, a desert-style par 72 of 6,692 metres from the back tees, with six lakes in play.
  • Day 5 – rest day in the Medina.
  • Day 6 – Route de Tahanaout: Noria or The Tony Jacklin Marrakech.
  • Day 7 – Route de Ouarzazate: Royal Golf Marrakech or Amelkis.
  • Day 8 – depart.

For something newer, Akenza (Kyle Phillips, opened 2025) or Al Maaden (Kyle Phillips, early 2010) can replace any day. Golf Club Rotana, in the Palmeraie, suits a day when you are staying on that side of the city.

Direct flights to Marrakech

What we could confirm from the airlines’ own data or announcements (checked 28 September 2026):

  • Ryanair lists routes to Marrakech from London Stansted, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle and Edinburgh in the UK, from Dublin, and from Stockholm Arlanda. A route in the list is not a promise of year-round frequency.
  • Jet2 announced in October 2024 two weekly flights from Birmingham, London Stansted, Manchester, Glasgow and Newcastle, scheduled until 13 November 2026. We have not confirmed its timetable beyond that date.
  • easyJet announced Newcastle–Marrakech from 3 November 2026, twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Edinburgh Airport lists easyJet and Ryanair on its Marrakech route.

London Luton Airport gives a flight time to Marrakech of 3 hours 40 minutes. We found no direct Ryanair route from Denmark or Norway in the airline’s data. With flights twice a week on some routes, the arrival and departure days will often decide the length of your stay, so check the schedule first and build the golf around it.

Travelling with your clubs

  • Ryanair: golf clubs cannot go in the cabin; for a fee, they travel in the hold up to 20 kg, with excess charged per kilo above that. The fee varies by category; we could not read the current amount, so check the airline’s fee table when booking.
  • Royal Air Maroc: a golf bag of up to 23 kg travels free of charge, subject to the airline’s conditions; excess weight or size is charged as standard excess baggage.

If you would rather travel light, several clubs publish club hire prices: 400 MAD for 18 holes at Assoufid, 350 MAD at PalmGolf Ourika, and 400 MAD shown by Royal Golf Marrakech (checked 28 September 2026).

Dates to check before you book

  • Fairmont Royal Palm announced a closure for seasonal maintenance from Saturday 15 August to Wednesday 30 September.
  • Green fees change with the season (see our green fees guide). Assoufid’s and PalmGolf Ourika’s rates run from 1 October to 30 September; Fairmont’s 2025–26 high season ran from 6 October 2025 to 30 June 2026.
  • Ramadan 2027 is expected around 8 February to early March 2027 (dates are set by moon sighting). Ireland’s foreign ministry advises visitors not to eat, drink or smoke in public during this time.

Our when to play guide covers the seasons, and the booking guide covers tee times.

Arriving in Morocco

UK, Irish, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian citizens do not need a visa for a holiday stay. Passport rules differ: the UK asks for at least 3 months’ validity after arrival, Ireland for 6 months from entry. Make sure your passport is stamped on entry: the UK government notes that some travellers have had difficulties leaving without the stamp.
